"A few years ago we were looking for a good family truck, that could do our farm needs but still hold a 5 member family. We bought our first one, and my then 16 year old son loved it so much he took claim of it and when he graduated we gave it to him. and brought another one . was so impressed with the reliability of it that we gave that one to our 16yr old daughter. With the roads my children drive I feel alot more comfortable knowing they are in them trucks."
"It still runs just as good with 142,000 as the day it left the lot. The only real problems are the minor problems any vehicle would face if it were reaching 12 years old! Like bad wires and a broken emergency brake cable; all of that is replaceable and fixable myself with little or no cost at all. I put Mobile 1 fully synthetic oil and a HM8A filter on that bad boy and the dipstick never reads lower than full-and it is as clear as can be. My truck is more reliable than my wifes 2002 model car. Like the energizer bunny, this truck keeps going and going and going."
"Ford trucks are built much better than any other brand, North American, and especialy Japanese ones. The 4.9L I6 is a better engine than even the larger V8s. This truck is fuel efficient, and produces good torque. I like the styling of these trucks, and they are also very durable and reliable. I enjoy driving this F150 truck more than anything else, car or truck."
"never left me stranded, extremely reliable, easy to work on. a very forgiving truck. not worth alot but you get more than your moneys worth. ive got 253000 miles on mine and it still purrs like a kitten. only buy the one with the inline 6 though the v8s are not near the quality."
"Got this vehicle off a family member. Its only 2WD but its still a beast! Its got the red interior which I like. I just rebuilt the transmission, the seals blew. the only other thing is the power windows are acting up. Otherwise great truck!"
Pros: "BUILT FORD TOUGH AND WILL OUTDO A LUXURY CAR"

"I love my 1993 f-150 x-cab 4x4 it will go anywhere ,will haul allmost anything and has all of the options of a luxury car and I know that I am well protected just in case some other driver wrecks into my truck because this thing is as they say is BUILT FORD TOUGH,and they are not jokin'my mother owns a 1994 f-150 x-cab 2wd long bed also, and we both love our tucks.............."
"I bought my grandpas 1995 f 150 a year ago. it had been his work truck for years and it got used and was pushed hard. Not to mention he hit an elk going 60 right before i got it. After me and my dad did some body work we drove it 1000 trip back home with no flaws it purred the whole way. i now have 167xxx miles and it starts every time no hitch and runs likes its brand new. I have the 4.9 with the 5 speed manuel and it tows just about anything i put behind it. This is the best vehicle i have ever owned i plan on keeping it till i can pass it on to my kids. if you see one for sale it would be the best purchase you have made in a long time."
"I bought my '93 F150XL used in 98 w/ 75K miles. It got me through college and five years in Atlanta. I moved to be closer to my family and sold the truck to my sister to help cover some cost. I told her that if they ever got rid of it I had first dibs. They recently traded me the truck for some hard labor and I've been throwing myself into it for the last month and a half, getting it fixed up. I've put about $500 into it and love taking it out with my lady riding next to me on the bench seat. I had considered selling it because I've already got a Ram 1500 but there is no way I'd let go of it for the Kelley value. I've got 175K miles on the truck now and I'll pass it on to my kids one day."
"This is a great truck with all the pulling power you need. Just would recamend a 5sp because the autos want to shift to soon so you can by a chip to help with that. One tip is to check the oil pans for leaks cause its a $400 repair. Unless you do it yourself but its a all weekend event."
"I wrote about this truck on this review back on oc. 13, 2008, telling how I felt much safer putting my children in this truck. I WAS RIGHT. Back in Dec. my niece borrowed my daughters 1995 supercab, she was driving back to return it the morning after a ice strom, hit a patch of ice lost control(this was her first time driving a pick up on ice) hit a new f150. Both pick up were totaled. our f150 was hit so hard the motor was pushed side ways . there really is nothing to save. the transfer case was on the ground on the ground it was all smashed. We well be able to save the back pumper and tail gate. That is all. I wish I could show the pitures.
The good news is amazingly, no one was killed or life changing injuries. Our insurance agent said " he don't know how it happened, he's never seen a pick up destored so bad that didn't end in death. "He said " the pick up did what it was designed to do . cuz everything was destored but the cab It all bent around her . Thank God
All I know is I well replace this pick up with another 95 f150 If I can find one."
"i have a 1996 Ford F-150 Xl 2wd with the 5.0L in it. Its an automatic. It has 121K on it and still running better that most newer vehicles. The only maintenance I had to do was usual repairs and a rear gas tank and new pump. This truck looks better than new vehicles off the showroom floor with fords factory paint. It has some rust but not noticable. This truck was driven in maine's winters since new. It is safe on snow, you just need some good tires on it and some weight on back. The air conditioning will freeze you out of the pickup. Best vehicle yet that I owned."
"I have driven Ford trucks for decades, this is defintley the nicest and most reliable one I've had the pleasure to own and drive for the past 10+ years. No major mechanical problems, just the usual maintenance like hoses and belts, brakes... but after 117K miles who can complain! The interior design is very user friendly, everything within easy reach, rides like a car, but works like a truck. Exterior styling in still contemporary looking, especially since Ford has left the funky style of late 90's! Gas milage has been OK, 17+ on highway, 13-15 city. No interior squeeks, dash is still like new even though it has never been garaged. Mine is red and is jsut now, after 15 years, is begining to show signs of oxidation, easily remedied with Ajax/water and a good wax.
I have driven this truck on several 1K mile trips and NEVER got sore, or achey from the seats, etc.
I recommend this rig if it has been cared for as mine has."
"One of the best trucks Ford ever built.
Incredible engine that could beat a Ford Mustang
on the line. Smooth ride with comfort. Dependable and no major engine problems in
any of the 11 years. Still going strong."
Cons: "doesn't have 4 wheel drive. seats show wear."

"purchased this truck new. added a custom fiberglass (low) cover full length. has new tires (full set) with less than 100 miles on them. always serviced very well taken care of. Little rust on lower panels. original paint (Eddie Bower) Has tow package never damaged"
"Bought in Wisconsinin 1999 with 42,000 miles on it. Its now in Arizona the last 5 years. Dealer put new calipers and pads in front when bought. Its been to N.Dakota, S. Dakota, driven to Oklahoma from Wi. and Az. In 2009 it needed a valve body in tranny. Its got a small oil leak, rear engine seal, and looses a little tranny juice from the cone seal. That's it, just tires and brakes since then. I get 18 mpg with mostly freeway driving if I keep just under 65 mph. Love it. Its paid for. I'll drive it till it don't drive no more."
"this truck has dents in the body that wear caught by snow and tree it has a shell and a roll-out bed. the tire's are in good to excellence the truck has not been used much in the last 2 year run good but should use tune up. I've owned it for 9 years"
"this is the best truck i have ever owned. Even though its so old i will not get rid of it for anything new or flashy, im a country boy and this is all i need for work and it gets me back and fourth to town. its easy to work on and its cheap. its the most durable truck ever, i have an '86 and the shock are origanal and still good, all ihave done so far is put on new belts and hoses and a new master cylender and a radiator flush, all under $150. i highly reccomend this truck to anyone who needs to get work done, you dont need anything flashy."
"This truck was a great deal for me, so I jumped on it. It runs tough, the I-6 engine has alot of torque, that mixed with a 5 speed manual, I pulled alot of weight with it. At one time, I had an old 35 foot steel camper, a cord of wood, and a snowmobile in the back, and It still drove like nothing was there. Up hill and down. Didn't get the worlds best gas mileage, but we are talking about a full-size truck, not a Prius. Never had any issues on cold mornings starting it, or hot days. It never broke down on me, and best of all, my fiance actually liked the truck."
"Have had almost no trouble with this vehicle in the 16 yrs I have owned it, bought it used. Very dependable truck. 5.0 motor has enough power to pull a two horse trailer with horses in it around here, not sure how it would do on hills with that load. Do not like the acrobatics you must go through to change the time on the clock, but other than that, nothing I do not like about this truck."
Cons: "Cup holders don't hold large cups very well."

"This is one of the best trucks I have ever owned. The 300 ci 6 cyl, backed by a 4 spd (with OD) manual transmission will pull anything I want to pull, plus, I get over 18 mpg on the highway! Yes, in a full size truck. Eddie Bauer package gives me all the toys, and they all work, even at 96,xxx miles! Excellent truck."
