"I purchased this truck new in 2008 the economy was in the toilet and ford was practically giving them away I think after taxes i got a standard truck for $11,500 which was a steal. Only major problem I had was at 121,000 miles the transmission went out unexpectedly and yes I take care of my vehicles. Besides that I've never had any other mechanical issues at all not even a check engine light! Knock on wood bottom line if I had to do it again yes I would by another ford. Hopefully they will get smart and offer a small fuel efficient diesel in the F150 soon."

Pros: "Nice to drive"

Cons: "Door wiring"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"The only problems I have had is the AC door under the dash, very hard to get to and very expensive for the dealer to do it for you. The other on going problem is the wiring harness that runs from the door back to the dash. The continuous open and shutting of the doors continue to break the wires. This results in no power windows or locks or mirror adjustments. Other than those two items I have had no trouble in 111000 miles."

Pros: "Interior size, four wheel drive, price, power"

Cons: "fuel efficiency, fit and finish, reliability"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 4

"I purchased this vehicle during April of 2014 after my previous vehicle was totaled. When I initially purchased the vehicle I was impressed by the size of the cab and was very pleased with the interior styling and functionality (mine has the front bench seat). Soon after I bought it it developed a misfire, which resulted in an expensive repair of the misfire and the catalytic converter. After those issues were resolved a=n exhaust leak occurred and then 6 months later the same cylinder began to misfire again. The truck has the notorious cam phaser tick for this model year and engine. I have had no other major mechanical issues with the truck and have been impressed by it to that degree. The main issues I have with the truck are the fit and finish of it, i.e. excessive hood flutter, sticky door locks, melting adhesive from behind the door handles and significant imperfections in the paint. for being a truck to get me by until I saved up for a nicer truck, it did its job and has done well when used for working on property, for a moving company, and towing ~6000lbs. I have put almost 25,000 miles on it this year alone and have usually had some sort of load on it or behind it when I have driven it and it has done well."

Pros: "Fun to drive, roomy, great gas mileage."

Cons: "I do not like where the fuse box is located."

"I have had several trucks in my life and I just bought this used 2006 f150 extended cab. I must say it has plenty of room and the dash seems to be moved forward giving even more room for the driver and passenger in the front. The back seat seems to have plenty of leg room for extra passengers. Truck so far as been reliable and gas mileage is tremendous. I'm getting close to 20 mpg which for a 4x4 v8 is great mileage. I must say I got a great deal on this and it is used. The way people have trucks priced these days you better grab one at a good deal if you can find it. I do not see them ever losing value."

Pros: "Tows great, lots of power. easily maneuverable."

Cons: "Known fuel system issue not corrected in design."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"Bought my truck used and drove it without incident, problem or suspicious behavior for 4 years. Then the check engine light came on and it fell victim to the ubiquitous fuel delivery issues. After investigating the issue on line I found that it was a fairly common problem with this engine/model and had been for several model years. (Bummer, why didn't Ford improve the design and eliminate this issue?) Had to invest a few bucks in repairs (about $1000), and there were some warranty issues that were handled free of charge (would have been about $3000 more.) After the work was done, the truck was not restored to its amazing, previous state... it was better. More power, better mpg (by 2 mpg, which is significant with a 5.4 litre engine that was getting about 15 mpg) and smoother running. I didn't even realize there was an issue before and could not imagine it could be better, but that "check engine" light came on and I got the issues repaired. I cursed that stupid light, but now am pleased that it came on and saved me from additional damage or a road side stranding. LOVE my truck!!!"
