I own this car - My approximate mileage is 186,500
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "Stellar reliability, GREAT outward visibility!"
Cons: "Loves gasoline! 13.4cty-22hwy mpg"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I bought my 2004 Explorer (AWD Eddie Bauer)in December of 2006 with just over 35,200 miles on the clock. Since then, I've had maintenance done as needed, including control arm, belt & tensioner and wheel bearing replacement, along with (now) 2 batteries and 2 sets of tires. Yes, these are normal wear items. With over 185,000 miles, it has never let me down! I had to replace the rear ABS sensor too, but my out of pocket expense has been minimal, aside from fuel. For what it is, I can't complain. It's still using the factory starter and alternator! ALL electronics still work, the leather is still solidly together, it holds all I need it to daily and my family and friends STILL typically choose this over their vehicles when we ride together! I wish Ford still made them just like this one."

"Bought this used and had all maintenance done at required times and excepting for the usual new tires, new battery, brakes and buffing out the various shopping cart dings, this truck just doesn't stop working. Only minor complaint is accessibility of the spare tire."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 265,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "style, awesome turning radius and manueverability"
Cons: "Fuel economy only about 12 mpg city"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"Just turned over 265,000 miles still running strong on original engine and transmission. It does have little quirks like abs light, O/D light from time to time, but they have been on for the last 100k miles or so. It does have the Ford Explorer crack on the rear hatch. I have changed oil every 5k miles since new, had to change ball joints, tie rod ends, an alternator, a bunch of tires ,a battery, but other than that it is original. I plan on driving it for another 100k."

"Reliable SUV, easy to drive, good turning ability for SUV, off roads well, huald cross country very well. The third row seats are not the easiest to put into the up right position, but are comfortabel for passengers. This was my first car, I moved in it mulitple times, got married and my family grew with it. I will never own another make or model."

"This has been a tremendously reliable vehicle which I purchased used. I have had all required maintenance performed and body work touch-ups. The ride is smooth, steering is tight and it gives me great confidence to see above most traffic ahead. The space inside has allowed me to transport several people and my two cats when needed as well as to pick-up and transport construction materials for a remodel in our mountain cabin. The interior has been easy to maintain has easy access for loading and unloading items such as groceries and moving boxes. Really have enjoyed my Ford Explorer!"
