Good Ride

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 98,800

Pros: "Comfortable, reliable, decent mpg for an suv"

Cons: "Road Noise"

"Recently purchased this explorer used, 96 with only 98000 miles. Has normal issues expected with an older vehicle. My only issue is the road noise. It has new tires but seems like the noise is either from tires or running gear, it is an AWD. Mechanic said nothing wrong with drive train and tires should not be making noise. Is this common for the AWD? I do enjoy, driving everyday to work and errands. Great vehicle for the beach as well"

Was good for the first ten years

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 135,000

Pros: "Nice looking, lots of luxuries"

Cons: "Stalls after 100,000 miles, bad electronics"

"This car was pretty good for the first 90,000 or 100,000 miles or so. I have the Eddie Bauer edition, and all the bells and whistles are great (heated seats, etc.). The ride is rough, like a truck. In hindsight, I wished it had a 3rd row for additional seating. The LED display on the stereo failed pretty early on, and did some of the window motors and the door lock key pad. No major problems until 90 or 100,000 miles, and now the car has idling problems, which I used to have on my Ford Mustang. No mechanic seems to be able to fix it (the same with my Mustang years ago). The sensors are also starting to go. I don't think I will ever buy another Ford -I was hoping to get many more miles out of this car."

Great For The DIY Sort of Person

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 134,000

Pros: "Easy to fix. Handles great in snow. Roomy."

Cons: "Needs "a little something" all the time. Poor MPG"

"I have a very love/hate relationship with my Ford XLT. At 134000 one thing goes and then another thing goes and then another thing goes. Mostly it's an issue with all of the sensors. I replace one and the check engine light goes off for a few days and then it lights up again and wants something else replaced. It also gets poor gas mileage. Other than that I love the ride. It's comfortable, a great size, easy to drive, handles beautifully in the snow/ice and comfortably transports 3-4 passengers without anyone being cramped for leg room. If it got better gas mileage and did not need maintenance 1-2 times a month I would have no need to own any other vehicle. Ever."

Very reliable and peppy

Pros: "Reliable, quick, attractive."

Cons: "Gas mileage is not all that good. 16 MPG"

"I have owned this car since it was new. Never a serious problem. My wife says "Trade it in, get something new", but why? It's quick (4.0 liter), big enough to carry stuff, and looks good. I figure it's good for another 100,000 miles."

"best ride I ever had my alpha romeo was the only faster car I owned. fully loaded with my tools and clothing I got pulled over doing 110 mph. On the road from Atlanta to Vegas with cruise control I was getting over 20 MPH the only reason I want to sell it is I want a Mercedes to woo a lady yeah I'm shallow but she is really hot!!!!!!!"
