"Very dependable vehicle. Design is simple so many routine maintenace tasks can be performed by the backyard mechanic - making this a cost effective vehicle to own for an extended period of time (many Explorers are still on the road for over 200K miles)."
"I bought my 98 Explorer Sport from a private one-time owner & never had any problems. Great SUV. Very Comfortable. All amendities to vehicles are acessable. Mine even has the tow package & it never let me down. Not so great on gas, but I drove over 100 miles highway daily so that could be my fault. I would recommend this SUV as a perfect vehicle for a new 16 yrs old driver. The back seat is very spacious. Pefect for tailgate parties. Great sound system. I had Bose speakers."
"My 2000 Explorer XLT is the best. No major mechanical problems, only typical "wear and tear". The only problem was the starter and that wasn't until about 100,000. I didn't even have to replace my brakes until 105,000. I'm very pleased with this SUV. I'm debating on buying a new one, but I'm having a hard time parting with this one. It has served me well."
