My favorite vehicle ever

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 321,000

Pros: "Very roomy, good towing, sturdy interior"

Cons: "gas mileage (17)"

"I have owned my current Ford Explorer since my daughter was 2 weeks old -- she just turned 16 in April. Although it has some bumps and dings, and has had an engine and transmission rebuild, I just keep wanting to drive this vehicle. I got the limited, so it has leather, and the interior has stood up to some punishment. It has been a reliable vehicle, and I may have to find one like it if it ever bites the dust. My only complaint is that over time it has lost some of its oomph, and does not accelerate as well as I would like. I actually plan on repainting it and keeping on driving it, but will not plan on getting into any races......."

Truck is a total beast

"When I first got this truck I thought it was just ok... 300000 miles later I am still driving it and take care of it a little bit from time to time and it just keeps chuggin along! I'm thinking about buying a new car for my wife and we're definitely buying a Ford Truck no matter what. This truck really is built tough - thanks Ford!"

good vehicle

"This vehicle has been thru many winters in Wyoming and it is great.The trans on this model is know to fair however......."

reliable and easy to work on

Pros: "lots of room, parts r easy to come by"

Cons: "gas miliage isnt the greatest"

"I received a '94 explorer from my grandfather. He bought it from a used dealership and was the second owner which makes me the third owner. only problems we both had were the rims that came stock. one to two rims would always lose a bunch of air over night due to temp change. put good steel rims on and had no problem. rust can be a factor but for me a well running truck doesnt have to stay looking pretty its while life. parts are easy to find and are cheap. I'll own one of these till the day i die if at all possible."

"1992(meter would not go to 1992) Ford Explorer Good condition needs paint job uses premium gas so doesn't knock & gets up & goes.Dependable roomy comfortable cover in back cargo (2)mesh & leather.Fluids changed tires rotated w/ white letters wash & underneath also real spare tire no radio lovely car taken good care of."

Ford Explorer, older is better.

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 249,000

Pros: "good MPGs, drives like a truck"

Cons: "Interior controls are spread out."

"This is one of the last of the "good" explorers. It is an SUV that drives like a pick up truck, not a luxury car. The one I own has 249000 miles, orginal engine and tranny, and is 19 years old. It still gets 450 miles to the tank and averages 20-22 mpg (by comparison, my 2006 Explorer gets 21.5-22 mpg average). (I grew up with Chevy pick ups, but will keep driving a Ford Explorer!)"
