"We bought a 2005 5.4L 4 years ago. The plugs went bad twice, AC went out and transmission failed. We put thousands and thousands of dollars into this truck to keep it running. Interior quality is poor. All the leather seats are dry and on the verge of tearing. Drivers seat is tore so bad it is uncomfortable to sit on. Back right power window doesn't work and back left the button broke and fell into the door. I know you are thinking, it is old and I am rough on it. That is not the case. I take extreme care of my vehicles. I own a 2002 Toyota Avalon and it runs and looks great. Not a single tear in the leather seats, window work great, never an issue with the motor or transmission. I try very hard to buy American, but I have to tell you, I have had nothing but issue with my American vehicle and nothing but a bullet proof ride with the Avalon. I would highly suggest you think twice before buying the 5.4L Expedition."
"It gets great gas mileage , 17 -21 on the road , It runs great and handles as good as a new one. I would not hesitate to drive cross country in the car. We have driven this car on neumers long trips with no problem."
"I L-O-V-E, love, LOVE my Expedition! I bought it new in 2004 and have put 324,000 miles on it so far...and it's STILL going. I have always done regular oil changes with full synthetic and do other regular maintenance (brakes, rotors, etc). It's a VERY reliable vehicle.
My Expedition runs smoothly and is powerful when I step on the gas. It is extremely versatile in that I can haul the kids or load up 4'x8' sheets of plywood which fit in the back without any problem at all!
I do a great deal of shopping for my home (Lowe's, Home Depot, furniture stores) and there was only one time when I purchased something that couldn't fit into my vehicle. That problem was quickly solved when I went to my local U-Haul and rented a trailer which was easily towed by my Expedition.
I can't imagine life without my "baby" and plan to keep her long after I choose to find a commuter car to bounce back and forth to work with. She will always have a home in my garage. :)"
"Purchased this car new on May of 2005 and have less than 150,000 miles. Has been a fairly good vehicle with some electrical issues. Right now it has been in the shop since April, 2015. Apparently a computer is not working and Ford is no longer making that part. We have been waiting for Ford to step up but so far no luck. Right now I am extremely dissatisfied with Ford. Without this part the car will not run at all."
