Pros: "Reliable and economical."

Cons: "Small engine apparent when A/C on."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"The only thing the car lacks is a slightly larger engine but the gas mileage was above average when it was produced --- especially with the 4 speed automatic transmission I have. I also like the inside adjustable side mirrors and the rear window washer, wiper and electric defrost."

"We had our first escort in 1989.....it ran excellent until I had it totaled in an accident. Bought a 1994 escort wagon in 2008 with 43,000 with a rusty body......the engine out lasted the body at 163,000. Bought a 95 escort wagon with 87,000 miles in 2011.....and is now running great with 201,000 miles. I am not sure how much longer this will last. So, I decided to look for another one.....I found a 1994 escort wagon with 33,000 miles on it with no rust for $2900!!!!!!!!!! I commute 660 miles a week, so I need a reliable car that is good on gas that wont cost me too much."

"I have driven my 1995 Ford Escort wagon some 185,000 miles over 19 years. I have never had a single major repair required in all this time. I would have kept this car going forever, but I live in a very wintry climate with heavy use of road salt and dirt. My mechanic tells me the motor could have lasted indefinitely. However, the body has finally succumbed to rust on the bottom surface. I know Escorts are no longer made but I wanted to say how impressed I have been with the reliability and performance. If Ford is still making this caliber of car, I would definitely consider purchasing one."

Pros: "great handling, good tires, well maintained."

Cons: "20 years old, lots of miles,"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"I bought this car with 50,000 miles on it, drove it another 100,00 miles plus over 11+ years. it was my business car, I was self employed. It has never been in a motor vehicle accident. A deer clipped the front right corner causing $750 damage a few years ago. I have kept it up mechanically. Two years ago I lent it to my grand daughter to use for her senior year in college. While she had it, the brake lines were replaced, other than that she had no problems with it. It has very good rubber. The right front fender has a scape where i backed my travel trailer into it. I've been very happy with this car which handles very well for a compact vehicle, equal to anything I've driven in Europe on vacation. Now retired I don't need it any more and want to save on expenses."

"I bought this car new back in '94....first engine died at 67,000 miles....second engine died at 64,000 miles. was constantly in the shop...had to replace the timing belt 3 times over the course of 4 years, replaced the harmonic balance pulley 2 times. When it was running it was a smoothing riding car, problem was keeping it running...ended up parting it out..."
