"The Ford Escape has been with me for 2 years now. And overall I am very happy with it. The positives: Its got lots of leg room (sits 5 comfortably), great interior layout. The trunk is really nice, there is plenty of space. It also drives really well too. It has the power to overtake if you need it, and the car feels soild on the road (steering feel is great!). The fuel economy is pretty good too!
However I have come across a few issues with the car that I am not pleased about. There was a major engine problem that caused me to have to replace the spark plus (and the engne was in extremely bad shape). There was also an alternator problem which caused my car to stop running all of a sudden as i was driving, and there were also some recall notices too (one was a accelerator pedal problem, and the other was a problem with the wishbone). My Escape doesn;t have plastic fenders so the esposed metal on the wheel arches have been getting rusted and its really annyoing.
Despite all of these issues, though, I am still happy with my Escape! If you are looking for a car with loads of space and good gas milage then be sure to get the Escape!!"
Pros: "Got lots of oohs and aahs from my passengers -male"
Cons: "2WD GREAT for beginner driver and H.S. /college"

"I find it has bee very reliable...
I do not feel comfortable in the driver's seat...I am average weight for 5'6"...and active.
I found the 2Spd. too slow for my experienced driving....BUT Ive BLEST the salesperson for getting me such an admired vehicle -- even though I prefered driving my 27 yr. old IMPALA for it s roominess and speed."
"I wouldn't recommend this vehicle I've had nothing but problems. Brake lines failed, catalytic converter failed, interior is peeling, failed wheel bearing, bad control arms, electronics don't work. I will never ever buy another Ford."
Pros: "fun to drive, great stereo, auto 4wd is a blessing"
Cons: "No mp3 player, bad spark plug defect."

"I've had this car brand new, and it has been very reliable except for the bad spark plugs that came with the SUV. Buyer beware on this, make sure that the original spark plugs have already been replaced BEFORE buying it used. Repair for the bad spark plugs will cost you the plugs, the coil and the PCM, plus labor. Search the internet for 2005 Ford Escape bad spark plugs, and you will find the truth. Be careful of the blind spots even with the big side mirrors. The automatic 4 wheel drive really has come in handy on slick roads. It's funny that the only marking is a 4WD symbol in the car to let you know it's a 4WD, unless you're looking under the car. My gas mileage at 124000 miles is about 14 mpg. Good thing gas prices have come down a bit."
Pros: "Fun to drive. Decent mileage for a hybrid SUV."
Cons: "Turning radius not as good as my old Explorer."

"This SUV was quite reliable in getting through some very bad snow storms, especially during my 20 mile commute in evening rush hour from Maryland to Northern Virginia. It performed exceptionally well on snow-covered back roads and hills - left other vehicles behind!(They were stuck in snow or sliding all over the road.)
One issue: when overnight temps dropped to teens or below and early mornings remained cold, the radio didn't work until the engine had warmed up a bit. This could take from about 5 to 15 minutes."
Pros: "great on gas. Very comfortable. Reliable vehicle."

"This is one of the most reliable vehicles I have ever owned. I love it! No problems with it except I believe it was airbag harness had to be replaced. I'm not really mechanically inclined but this is the only repair in 11 years. Good investment."
