"We have a 2012 E-250 van that needs a new transmission. The van is 688 miles past the warranty. Ford does not want to stand behind their vehicles and cover the repair. The 60k warranty ran out just about a week prior to the transmission problem. This seems very disappointing that the vehicle breaks this soon and that Ford will not stand behind their products. Ford has diagnosed the problem and say that they would need to put in a new transmission. They have estimated the repair at $3500. Ford has offered to pay $1400 of the repair. That seems totally disgraceful to me. I can understand if the entire cost cannot be covered because it is technically outside the warranty line, but $1400 is not even 1/2 of the cost."
"This diesel cargo truck has over 450K miles on the original 7.3L engine. Good power, reasonable mileage (17 mpg, mostly hwy). Handles well, but when empty shakes all life out of you even on perfect roads; when loaded, ride improves a lot. Seats are incredibly uncomfortable, instruments are clear and logical, A/C and ventilation good. Mine has a lot of body rust, but the chassis is solid. Maintenance is difficult due to poorly designed access. Power windows and power mirrors practically don't work and many annoying accessories that don't work right anymore (radio died, fan only runs at high speed...), but as a work truck it just doesn't want to die (and I occasionally pull a heavy trailer, without even noticing the load). Word of caution - the van sits very high, has a high center of gravity, so be careful on turns; it can spin out of control if the road is wet. The new 6.0L diesels are much worse than this one (I have the newer one as well - much worse)."
"The only problem I have had with my van is the TIRE SENSORS. They have been on for 5 years. I had them fixed twice but they went on right away both times. The only recommendation I have is more side wall protection on the inside to prevent dents that show on the outside"
Pros: "feels great until gas prices shoot up again"
Cons: "it can be $100 a fill up"

"The rear AC needed work, there was a recirculation exhaust problem, and had to replace the spark plug wires when #3 started to miss. The interior has held up nicely. Does well on the highway as long as you pay attention to the tires. It'll vibrate at 65-70 if the tire pressures are off or needing new tires. With 5 kids, it's super and more roomy than the minivan."
