"I've owned Talons (one 1992 and a 1997) for more than 10 years. The first generation (1G) greatly outweigh the experience I've had with the second generation (2G).
For the most part, they are great little cars with a lot of get up and go. However, if you decide to buy one, be prepared to maintenance the vehicle religiously (every 3000 miles) and have frequent little issues that pop up. Also good car if you're mechanically inclined. Most parts are easy to replace.
From my experience, the engine on the 2G's seems to start conking out at 90,000 miles. It starts having gasket issues at around 70,000 miles. I have to say though, this car has never left me stranded anywhere.
If you are looking for a stylish, affordable, easy to modify car, this is the one for you. If you are looking for an everyday around town vehicle with reliability, you should probably steer away from the Talon."
Cons: "small cup holders, small interior, no leg room"

"I've always wanted one of these cars because of a childhood experience. But man was I surprised when I got it. I've driven alot of fast cars with lots of power and this one rates in the top 5. Granted, the previous owner did some modifications to it. From what I can tell, a front mount intercooler, boost controller and gauge is all. With the gauge reading 14lbs at full boost managed a 5.2 second 0-60. It's a little slow off the light but when that turbo spools up, you better hang on. Funnest daily driver I've ever driven by far. I love it"
"I own a 95 TSi AWD and have had this car for 4 1/2 years...umm the bad is that ive lost three 7-bolt 4g63's to crankwalk even after babying it: diabling the clutch start, not launching at more than 4k, etc....and i dont even want to discuss replacing a clutch in one =p...if youre looking for a very cheap project car tho u cant go wrong with a DSM....im running a 16g EVO III at 12psi on a semi daily driver...but in the end i would never trust this car to take me across the country and back but i still definately reccomend this car."
