Pros: "Plenty of power to spare. Can pull anything"

Cons: "Worthless warranty."

"This is honestly the best truck I"ve ever owned. Back in 2008 big vehicles were getting hard to sell due to gas prices. Dodge offered a Limited Lifetime Power train Warranty as a selling feature. And it worked. I moved up to a 4 x 4 from my usual 2 wheel drive. Only one problem. While they were big on driving home the lifetime power train warranty, they left out a couple of minor details in the course of doing all the paperwork. First no paperwork showing the limited lifetime warranty was included with all the purchase paper work. It's in the computer they said. We'll keep track of it for you. Forward 7 years, 194K miles later. The transmission solenoid pack starts acting up so I take it to the dealer to get it fixed. No problem right. I've got a lifetime power train warranty. WRONG. Even though, in 7 years every oil change or other maintenance, warranty and out of pocket repair or preventative maintenance has been performed at various "DODGE" dealers around the states, no one and I mean NO ONE bothered to mention that at, on or within 6 months of the 5 year ownership anniversary, that you are required to have a complete vehicle inspection from a certified dodge dealer. If that inspection is not completed and/or documented, the life time part of the warranty drops off your computer record like you never had it. No bear in mind they had no problem mentioning all the extra's that I could pay for out of pocket like useless rear end or differential fluid changes because my oil was dark, power steering fluid or brake fluid for the same reason, tires be worn but still acceptable, wipers, air filter dirty etc. Not once was the 5 year inspection ever mentioned to me. In fact when I started checking into it, I found that most service managers and/or customer service reps don't even know or acknowledge that the lifetime warranty for all 06, 07, 08 and 09's begins once the normal 3 year, 36K mile warranty expires. When I bought my truck, I also bought a reduced price Extended warranty that was for bumper to bumper for 99 years and a million miles for about $2800. Normal a $5000 package, but dodge was covering the power train so it was excluded from the extended warranty. All set. I'll drive this thing until the wheels fall off or it blows up right. Apparently not so. Now I have a truck with 194 K miles on it with no power train warranty, but everything else is covered on the truck and even transferable if/when I sell it. Cost of replacing the transmission solenoid pack only $775 out of pocket dollars. Lesson learned about dealers and warranties, priceless. If they aren't on paper with the specifics spelled out in black and white, they aren't worth a darn."

Pros: "Price, Cummins engine."

Cons: "Government mandated emissions system."

"107,500 miles in 8 years so not high mileage for the year. Based upon the pricing for a similar Ford or GM product this Dodge was an excellent buy. I initially had several problems with the regeneration system, so I removed it and since that time this truck has been problem free. The Cummins diesel is an outstanding motor and should hold up for at least another 200,000 miles."

I bought it new in 04 and is best truck I've owned

Pros: "Very dependable and powerful, comfort drive."

Cons: "Oil change takes 3 gal of Mobil Delvac every 10k"

"I have the Cummins diesel 4X4 6 speed manual transmission with 8 foot bed. I have pulled fully loaded freezer semi's out of snow banks and across ice. I had to change the brakes finally at 147137 miles. I get 20 mpg around town and driving to work, 22 mpg on the highway. Fully loaded pulling a camper and all 4 sons had to bring there tents got 18.5 mpg on highway. I have to respect it because it really is a very powerful truck and you can easily damage smaller vehicles."

Pros: "handles, tows, hauls, low maintenance"

Cons: "wish it had a trailer brake, other than that, none"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"this truck has been great for me. I have repeatedly loaded it heavy and it has performed great. It has towed everything I've hooked up without a problem, although I do wish the towing package on mine had a trailer brake hookup. Over the years I've owned the truck I haven't had to do much other than change oil, brakes, tires. The 20s are pretty expensive, but they work well. This truck has been awesome for me in every way."

Pros: "Good price and value for money."

Cons: "Not geared right for towing. Maintneance issues."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"Bought new for towing horse trailer. It is adequate for towing, but probably not geared quite right. Still, it works. Had some problems with driving at high altitude (over 10,000 feet) - engine quit. Will reset itself if you turn it off for awhile. Learned this the hard way. Had to replace transmission. Comfortable for traveling long distances. Quad cab is great."
