"The SRT-4 neon is a great little car, but be careful when purchasing them. Many have been modified, so be sure to check the quality of work, ask to see receipts, and definitely have a mechanic check it out first. Remember ALWAYS do your research on a vehicle before buying!!"

Cute but not all dependable

Pros: "fast, low gas mileage"

Cons: "no cruise control, no power back windows"

"I bought this car used and ever since we have had issues. First we paid way over the KBB price, but at the time it was what we had to do, but it's not worth with all the issues we are having. 1st - gears and censors were wacked, but warranty covered those. 2nd - tensioner belt broke, no power steering or air condition, and 3rd - brake lines blew...all but one. We are not going to put any more money into it. It's just not worth it. If you are to get a car like this, please be aware that it will have its faulty issues. I was hoping this car would last until my daughter is able to drive; which it might, but it just cost way too much to maintain right now."

"If your looking for a small car that packs a good punch and is a good daily driver this is the car for you if you can still find it in good condition with low miles. Having said that this car is no longer made by dodge and 2005 was the last year for this model. I've had this car a little over a month and have put 2000 miles on it going back and forth to work. It gets decent gas mileage but for a 4 cylinder I would have hoped it would do better than about 250-290 a tank running e87 gas. The engine so far was running great and never failed on me, it took a bit to warm up on the cold mornings but once it did the heat is great. Recently I ran into a problem where the engine would feel like it had no power going up hills unless it was up in the high RPM's it would also have a rough idle. The dealer I bought it from determined it had a few of the sensors go out inside the engine as well as fuel injection problems. They are replacing the engine free of charge since I just bought it. The interior seems a bit dated for its time but looks pretty good and is in great shape for having 2 prior owners and being 10 years old. The seats are really comfortable and there's plenty of room for a 6ft person to drive it but can take some time getting used to getting in and out of such a small car. As far as the ride goes I believe this car would be much better if one of the owners didn't put low profile 17 inch wheels on it. Granted it still pretty smooth but not when it comes to bad roads with lots of pot holes. For being 10 years old its a great car that I can definitely recommend this car for someone needing a cheap reliable car for going to work everyday or even road trips. As far as for the stereo, the Original 6 disc stereo was great but was lacking an aux input so I put in a JVC Bluetooth radio that has made it much better. The Speakers being stock are great, it has two 3.5 tweeters in the dash, 2 6.5 speakers in the front doors, and two 6x9 speakers near the back window area. They have plenty of Bass that will make you wonder why you need a Sub-woofer in this car as well as perfectly clear sound for those acoustic songs. It is loud enough and clear enough to block out most road noise."

Pros: "Handles well, good sound quality."

Cons: "Poor engine quality, cheap, unreliable"

"I have had to put at least $300 every oil change into this car to fix something crazy on it. Belts, fluids, and the sensors go out all the time. The engine is not reliable and at 115000 miles it started knocking and nothing that any of the four people who have worked on it has helped."

Pros: "Cheap, would make decent car for teenager"

Cons: "money pit, engine doesn't last, very basic"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 1

"I purchased this vehicle at 36,000 miles. The first few years it was a good reliable car. The 4th year I had it, I began to run into issues with her. I had more repairs than I count, the timing belt needed replaced, all the motor-mounts, thermostat went, ignition switch, electrical issues, and finally the engine went. So I recently purchased a Buick which is 7 years older than my neon but drives so much better. I also did not like how its automatic windows in the front and manual in the back. Im junking the neon, I'm disappointed that the motor is not more durable, but glad to be rid of the burden of that car. I don't think I will ever buy a dodge again."
