I own this car - My approximate mileage is 160,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsLikely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I got a 1995 Dodge Intrepid for free because my friend didnt know what was wrong with it or how to fix it and wanted something newer. It had 140,000 mi. at the time and I had to replace the timing belt. (They should be replaced every 60,000 mi. or so). I have to say this drivetrain is extremely bullet proof. The engine is easy to work on (it mounted north, south orientation) like the old V8 engines (mechanics love this). The 3.5 engine has plenty of low end torque (a good thing)and is extremely reliable. The only downside is the interior is not very durable which is no suprise with Chrysler products. They are known for thier engines and performance not for their interiors. There are many of these still on the road and I see them all the time. Dont let the high mileage fool you these cars will outlast many, many other cars. Ive worked on this engine top to bottom and the engineering of this powertrain was way ahead of it,s time. The 3.5L engine was used all the way to the 2012 in Dodge and Chrysler vehicles, thats almost unheard of in the automotive industry. Many improvements were made through those years to increase gas mileage and performance but the reliabilty of this work horse never changed. My recommendation is if you find yourself looking for a reliable vehicle to purchase, buy a Dodge or Chrysler vehicle with the 3.5L engine. You will have that car for many, many years to come."

"I have had the car for about two years now. It just hit 160,000miles and it still runs like its new, gets great mpg for how old she is. the body is rust but the motors will out last the body by a long shot. and they then to still run great even though if the air filter is full of chicken feathers!"

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 180,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "Low maintenance, great highway mpg, solid car"
Cons: "Low to the ground, doors open too wide"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9
"This car doesn't seem to quit! I was surprised to change out the transmission at 165,000 (unusual for a Dodge automatic) but that was still a small cost for the 10+ years I have owned this car. It's solid, sturdy, easy to work on, very comfortable for long trips. I am amazed that I average 24-25 mpg around town, and 28+ mpg on the highway despite its GVW! The back seats have the most leg room I have ever seen, and there is enough space in the trunk to carry numerous bags & boxes. This would be a great reliable used car if you are tight on money & can't afford something new."

"I have used this car for a while and now I own it personally. It was my grandfathers and he passed it down to me. Amazing car! It served him well and its still ready to go the extra mile for me. Fair gas mileage and tasteful look. NOT THE GRANDFATHER CAR YOU WOULD EXPECT. Room inside to haul my friends around and room in the trunk for all the stuff they carry with them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"

Reason: trade-in - My approximate mileage is 120,000

"You know, this was my first car and one of the best cars I ever had! I drove it for FOREVER, high school and college, and it never once had a problem. It got amazing gas mileage (hwy 31!) even for an old car. The seats were comfortable, the backseat and trunk were large...it was a great, dependable car. Probably could have gone another 100,000 miles!"
