"is not as bad as other people said like any other thing is luck and how you take care of your things i bought a 2008 fully equip.
likes-space /mpg/style/great for the family
dont's interior is white bad for kids/bumpers are solid plastic and deform with the sun but the dealership took care of it with no questions ask, i like the power train warranty of a live time. nothing in live is perfect so i enjoy the good things and smile a the bad things. after all im having fun with my family not the van. hope you do to"
"My family loves this van(2008SE). My 25 yr. old and my husband love to drive this van. We bought it from a dealer at 33,000 mi. Got a great deal and I enjoy driving it because it has class. It reminds me of something a business man would use to drive his clients around in because of its updated styling(Ours is black so it is pretty sharp looking). This is our third minivan and this one is by far the best. Had it three months now, no problems at all. Went on a weekend trip with 6 adults and there was room for everyone's stuff. Just love it. Our only complaints are our model doesn't have overhead lights in the middle seats and the cupholders on the doors are too far away for those in the middle seats and your can't put a coffee cup there because the coffee would go flying out when the doors are used. Nothings perfect right?"
"I bought this van new in November 2007. I have had a new transmission, 2 new air conditioner pumps, new wheel bearings, new entertainment system, new stow and go back seat, a pinging sound that won't stop, electric doors that won't shut all the time, and a engine that burns all the oil out before the next oil change is up (and they say this is normal). Do not buy this van it is terrible!"
"Bought a used 08 SXT after comparing with the Honda and Toyota. When comparing features on the vehicles it is obvious that for the same money you get far more with the Dodge than the competitors. If money were not the issue I would definitely recommend the Honda but when comparing vehicles at the same price then the Dodge Grand Caravan offers the best value.
I am very happy with the vehicle and would recommend it to others looking to buy a minivan.
Positives: styling, space, ride quality (compared to the previous generation), excellent value for money!
Negatives: Bad fuel consumption with city driving (14,5mpg), sliding doors don't always close using the remote option."
"I have had 7 new radiator caps, 4 new stereos, 2 replace coolant lines, bumper replaced due to swelling, the doors adjusted several times, and the window control motor replaced twice. I will NEVER EVER buy another Dodge! Wish I could get rid of the one I own, but I owe more than it's blue book value to trade it in."
"Found pricing, economy, styling, comfort, and versatility to be better than my previous 2002 Ford WStar LX. Interior systems are outsatnding. We'll see on the reliability part, but my research has shown it to be better than average"
"Bought this vehicle in December 2007. What a mistake! I previously owned a 2004 Grand Caravan Anniversary Edition. This was a step down. The van is Cheap! The power doors do not work properly; often come out to where it is parked and one of the 'power' doors is OPEN! Had to have the transmission selector knob replaced at 12,000. We just had it in for routine maintenance and had to have the front rotors changed as well as the brakes. The blue book value is 14500 to 15000. This is my absolute last Dodge Van I will ever buy. Honda Odessey is the better value."
"With Chrysler going bankrupt I got a very good deal on this van, I mean a very good deal. Problems: the air conditioner sings when you first turn it on on the highway, goes away after a while, the front end makes a clunking sound when you brake after you back up somewhat quickly, as if something gets back into place, once the rear air conditioner would not cool, I turned the control to the front and it started to cool again, handed the control back to the rear and it hasn't done it since. No engine or transmission problems, very squeaky brakes, lots of brake dust on the wheels, LOVE the extra storage room. On average I am happy with the van because I paid so little for it, few options on it so it has less stuff to break."
"Be very careful on test drive, new engine design, very slow on initial excelleration.
Slow on hills, not instant on pushing gas pedal. Frustratiing as dealer say live with new engine feature, all electronic, no adjusting. Gas pedal can be adjusted that seem to help. Would hesitate buying 2009 grand caravan XLT."
"I purchased this vehicle new and have nothing but problems with it. It has less than 12,000 miles on it and the transmission has been slipping since about 5,000. The passenger door lock broke and had to be replaced. The rear passenger sliding door does not work from the inside. It gets TERRIBLE gas mileage--15 MPG! Has been to dealer to be fixed twice already. STAY AWAY from the 2008. Also, a friend of mine has a white one (also a 2008) and it has tiny rust spots along the lower portion of the sliding doors!!"
"We have enjoyed the caravan early on in the process. We knew the trade in value would be less than on a Toyota or Honda, but at about 6-7k less we decided to go with it. We enjoy the room and the available layouts for carrying large items. Gas mileage could be a bit better around town."
