"Very darn great vehicle. LOVE mine. Dodge did very good with design, power, handling, 4 wheel drive capabilities. These vehicles are a super buy, however they do like to stop at gas stations. But a good trade for the comfort and piece of mind they give!"
"AT FIRST I WAS SKEPTIC ABOUT BUYING THIS DURANGO BUT MY HUSBAND REALLY LIKED IT SO WE FINALLY AGREED TO PURCHASE IT. I AM SO GLAD HE RECOMMENDED THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS THE BEST CAR THAT I HAVE EVER OWNED. IT IS 15 YEARS OLD AND I STILL HAVE IT. I AM POSSIBLY GETTING READY TO SELL IT JUST BECAUSE HE MADE ME GET A NEW VEHICLE BECAUSE THE DURANGO HAD SO MANY MILES ON IT AND I USE IT ALOT TO TRAVEL. I STILL DRIVE THIS DURANGO WHENEVER POSSIBLE BECAUSE I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE THIS VEHICLE THAN THE NEW ONE WE PURCHASED. 2001 DURANGO YOU HAVE AND WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE VEHICLE OF ALL TIMES."
Pros: "Fun to drive. Looks good. Roomy! Feel safe inside."
Cons: "Poor gas mileage."

"I purchased by Durango brand new in 1999 in the USA. I have been meticulous in taking care of it. It had been with me when I was stationed in Thailand and it had been with me in the West Africa where I reside at present. (I am departing here in September 2015)
I have used it to pull heavy loads such as cars, U-Haul storage units and even a large van with a car full of people over and through the mountains from North Carolina to West Virginia to Wisconsin and back to North Carolina. No problems.
The exterior still shines new. There are a few places on the hood where it could use a paint job but it is not noticeable.
The grey leather interior is clean and looks new. Only the drivers seat has a small tear in it and it was caused by my teenage daughter.
It runs like a champ. The engine is strong and smooth running. Not noisy at all. The transmission is smooth as well.
Problems since I owned it:
1. Heater stopped working. It was fixed by a heater core flush.
2. Transmission pump leaked. Replaced transmission pump.
3. ABS and break light comes on. I will get this fixed next month when the Durango arrives in the USA from Africa.
4. Ball joints are bad. I will replace next month.
5. Needs new leaf springs.
6. Serpentine belt broke. (Replaced)
7. Hatchback struts need to be replaced.
I will have it winterized and buy four new tires. I am keeping it! And, it is paid for!"
"Bought one with 157k miles on it, from friend. He'd bought it used with 80k. Only issues for me small leak in power steering unit and needs AC stuff.
I replaced battery and he gave me $50 towards it, he thought it was only 4 years old; however it was SEVEN. And he made me a deal $125 a month for 12 months, so I could NOT afford not to do this transaction.
I am surprised that any vehicle nowadays can keep on running so well, with so many miles. Brand new the 4.7 V8 was EPA rated @ 14 MPG. I am getting 13.6 MPG in the city. NOT bad for a 15 year old vehicle."
"This is a very strong and tough unit. Reliable 318 v8. Truck runs like a dream. After 223,000 miles transmission has never been out and engine has never been opened. This is result of frequent oil changes and being driven by myself only. WELL DONE DODGE!!!!"
