"This is a 1999 extended cab, two wheel drive, 860,000 miles and has been a great pickup for me. I used it for both hauling and personal transportation long distance and short in town. Hauls med loads, box size is big enough for everything I haul, 8ft motor cycle (with tail gate down), 4x8 sheets of plywood. The ride is good and comfortable interior.
Drawbacks; I have the 3.9 motor which is good for most things but lacks power for pulling med and larger trailers through the hills in the Black Hills. The paint started to fade at about 10 years old. No rust until about 12 years old, and once it started it went fast to all areas. Which is sad that the bode is falling apart but runs great. Gas mileage is fair 15 most of the time but as good as 21."
"I bought this truck brand new it was rigorously maintained oil changes every 3000 miles your standard services etc I had to replace the first transmission @ 40000 miles and the second at 80,000 miles all done by the dealership have put in two starters and a alternator my instrument cluster works when it wants to and the dealership can't find the problem and recently it has developed a bad idling problem and half the time won't even start sometimes when I go it will stutter and not even want to move and misfire I have replaced the idle air control valve throttle position sensor air filter spark plugs wires and coil pack as well as the crankshaft position sensor and the fuel pump all which the dealership thought would resolve my problems so far nothing has worked I wouldn't recommend this truck to anybody in the world"
Pros: "fun to drive, hauls heavy stuff, little maintenanc"
Cons: "V8 uses more gas,"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9
"Anyone wanting a smaller truck this holds 5 passengers comfortably and hauls just about anything, this truck does it all! I bought it new and have just recently had to put in a new heater core, otherwise nothing but basic maintenance. Drives well, seats are comfortable for long trips. It's got some rust but northern states have salt on the roads in the winter, and salt isn't really necessary for this vehicle cuz it goes anywhere with the 4WD and 8 cyl engine!"
"I paid little for my truck and it has served me well it can haul three round hay bales on a trailer without a sweat it shifts nice sounds good rides a little rough though it off roads real nice with no trouble in mud thanks to its wider tires. It is a 2003 Dodge Dakota SXT 2dr. with a 3.9 liter V-6 and a 5-speed manual tranny it is four wheel drive and i LOVE this ole truck."
