Two new names, Big Horn and Lone Star, replace the SXT trims, while the SLT, Sport and TRX 4x2 are dropped. New standard features include a tilt steering wheel on ST trims, while cloth bucket seats and 18-inch aluminum wheels are made standard on all Laramie models.

About Dodge Dakota Crew Cab

With aggressive new styling, the mid-size 2008 Dodge Dakota can no longer be mistaken for just a small Ram. Dakota buyers disdain today's bulked-up full-sized pickups and demand a leaner exterior. With little compromise in interior room or workhorse ability, the Dakota delivers a trimmer package that makes it easier to negotiate congested city traffic and crowded parking lots. Yet the Dakota remains roomier and more potent than its smaller-than-full-size competitors. The Dakota comes in six distinct trim levels. Each is available with either aft-hinged rear doors—called Extended Cab—or the four conventional doors of the Crew Cab. All are available with either rear-, conventional four-wheel drive or full-time four-wheel drive. Standard is a capable 210-horsepower V6, while an impressive 302-horsepower V8 is available.

"I cannot believe how much I like this truck, especially since I'm a diehard Chevy man. But the Dakota does everything my previous Silverado does, but handles better, has much more power with the 4.7 V8, and still gets better gas mileage. At 42,000 miles its been perfectly reliable. I even have the original brake pads and rotors, something that won't happen on a Chevy!!! Mytrade in was a Colorado, which was the worst piece of junk Ive ever owned. The Dakota is a bigger truck, far more comfortable and much more pleasant to drive. I tow a 26 ft. trailer and have pulled over 10000 lbs. with it and it does it beautifully. Real nice paint job. Still get compliments that it looks like new. I can't find anything to complain about this truck, except it doesn't say Chevy on it. It should!!!"

"I bought new in 2007. The truck has been a loyal friend that I have been able to count on always. I only wish that I would of gotten a 4X4 as my lifestyle has changed. I have 67,000 miles on the original brakes and battery. I have only needed to replace one set of tires as well as one set of sway bar end links. The power of this truck is awesome and it handles well on all roads. I have gotten upwards of 23 MPG going 65MPH on long highway trips."

"Highway MPS is fantastic. 22.0 mpg NH town driving 15 mpg This is a very nice looking truck, Warrentee is the best out there bar non. Tows like a dream. Plows very well. The room inside and bed room is very good. The tires a just OK. Goodyear Wranglers need I say more. I have black metal flake paint. It does mark up quite easy. Overall. This is one great truck. I am very happy with my decision."
