For 2012, the Dodge Caliber compact hatchback is offered in three trims: SE, SXT and SXT Plus. More standard equipment is added to the base SE trim, while electronic stability control is made standard on all models.
Small cars are becoming increasingly more versatile, and few vehicles better epitomize this trend than the Dodge Caliber, a combination hatchback/wagon/SUV that effectively replaces the Neon small sedan as Dodge's most affordable offering. While the Caliber is actually about an inch shorter than the Neon, it's substantially more versatile and brings a much bigger presence to the street and the parking lot.

"I T-Boned a large van going 35 miles an hour, and while the front end and engine are a complete waste, I was able to walk away from the wreck with no injuries other than being very sore. I would take one of these again in a heartbeat."

"I've owned a lot of cars from two seater sports cars to four door pickup trucks. From a cost perspective this car gave me everything I was looking for at a great price. I drive 60 miles to work each way, in heavy traffic. My biggest problem with my previous cars was sore legs and feeling anxious from sitting so long (2 to 2 1/2 hours each way). The Caliber was the first car in the last 10 cars I had owned that this didn't happen. The manual seat adjusted up and down, as well as back and forth, and back angle. I liked the "house plug" so that I didn't have to have a car charger and a home charger for my cell phone, and the iPOD jack on the raido. The drink cooler I thought didn't "cool" my drinks very well, until one day when it was 100 degrees and I had my water in the drink cooler (in the glove box area) and it was nice and cold! The only real options I had on my car was a power sunroof (which I have in all my cars), 17" wheels, and upgraded 2.0 - 4 liter engine. I didn't even have the AWD since I was focused on mileage and comfort. The car handled great in the snow without the AWD, and got consistent 30MPG on the highway even in bumper to bumper traffic. One thing to get use to is the transmission. The automatic shifts without gears like a traditional automatic, and so it takes a little getting use to. It doesn't launch from a stop (like my 67 Camaro), but on the highway you can punch it to change lanes in a hurry without concern of lack of power. Other thoughts, great for my 270lb 21 year old son to sit in the back. I've had 5 adults in the car, but 4 large adults fit and were comfortable. I also liked the seats could fold down flat - including the front passenger seat, and I could get a lot of stuff in the car when I shopped at home depot for trim, etc. I'm considering selling my car after 4 years, because I need a tow vehicle and don't want two cars with insurance payments, but having a hard time letting this one go. Its too practical, and fits my needs and expectations very well. The inside looks good, the cloth seats have held up very well (I hate leather because you stick in the summer and its hard/cold in the winter). The plastic molding around the seat hinges is probably the only part of the car I think feels poorly designed/cheap. I think the interior even in basic form looks good and is easy to clean/maintain."

"Bought this 2007 in 2008 have 60k on it now. It gets 30-33 mpg with an average of 28 mpg, the fuel tank needs to be bigger than 13.5 gals, does have a blind spot on driver side, great for mountain driving, good city car, has neat little storage, My biggest complaint is the noise that comes from the wheel wells. I would give this car to my daughter, but she is four years away from driving. Would have way too many miles on it by then. paid 14,k list now for 7k"
