Narrow year range (drag arrows to filter):
The potent turbocharged engine has been retired, as has the manual transmission. Chrysler has simplified the lineup to a single vehicle, now called the PT Cruiser Classic, which has a single engine and transmission choice and only a handful of options.
People who drive convertibles often like their cars to stand out, a fact most manufacturers and designers take into account. If unmistakable styling is the hallmark of a great convertible, then the PT Cruiser Convertible should win top honors. Based on the popular PT Cruiser Wagon, the convertible sheds its top (as well as its two rear doors and flip-up hatch) to create an open-air cockpit large enough to accommodate four adults. When outfitted with the optional turbocharged engine the PT Cruiser Convertible can be quite the barnburner and, with its top in place, the PT takes on the look of a nifty chop-top '40s cruiser.

"Great little car. Performance and economy are great for its size and class. Easy to get in and out of, even for adults in the rear seating area. Needed only maintance items, tires, brakes, ect..."

"I love my PT, I really do, and I have really enjoyed driving it, but mechanically it's such a waste of money. I bought it brand new in 2002 and didn't drive it everyday. It was so cute and comfortable. I didn't have any issues until I began driving it everyday. What good is a car if you can't drive it a lot without problems??? I began commuting 3 years ago and every since then it has giving me headaches and high maintenance bills. First the brakes twice in ONE YEAR, then the water pump, then the fan, then the electric system, then some weird fuses, then squeeking, now just this weekend, the transmission went out!!! My mom has had her Honda Accord since 1994 and the worse thing to happen was she had to replace the AC system because we live in super hot Houston. If you are used to American cars that just die before their time, go ahead and buy this car. It's cute and I enjoyed driving it. But it's loud on the road, I have to crank up my stereo to avoid hearing every sound, it's bumpy, it's slow and after taking great care of it inside and out it's still worth only a few thousand dollars! I'm selling it. I refuse to continue to pay to get this car fixed for more than the car is even worth!! They made it looks so snazzy aesthetically but where is counts, it's an ugly picture. :("

"Roomy & comfortable; I can fit my 170lb dog in the back easily. Appalling gas mileage for a four cylinder car with no turbo or upgrades. Body has held up well for 7 years - Chicago winters, but garage kept. I would recommend this car for it's roominess and reliability, do not expect to get economy car mileage though. Oh, and there are pretty serious blind spots caused by the front and rear pillers. Handles well; good(ish) pickup."
