Pros: "great in the snow, no mechanical issues"

Cons: "Slow pickup, breaks need replacement every 5 yrs."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I've had this Trailblazer for 9 years and I am the original owner, and I love it. Other than the breaks and tires having to be changed every five years (which is to be expected with all the snow and salt on the roads during the winters in NY) this car hasn't given me a lick of mechanical problems. If it wasn't for the age of the car I would be keeping it. I wish Chevy still made this because if they did I would buy another one in a heartbeat."

Pros: "Comfortable ride, nice sound system (JBL w/6 disc)"

Cons: "4L60E transmission failure at 32,000 miles"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 5

"My 2002 Trailblazer LTZ 4WD has been 'average' for reliability. The transmission on this vehicle (and other GM vehicles) The 4L60E transmission has a high failure rate due to a sun-shell and input gear defect. Cost about 2700.00 to replace if out of warranty. Otherwise, its been a decent SUV. Fuel mileage in mine ranged from 17-23mpg...Not the best in the mid-size SUV class. As long as you keep up on the maintenance, the Trailblazer should last a long time....Not trouble-free, though. 4.2 I-6 engines are known to overheat if abused enough by poor driving habits. It is no high performance motor by any means. NEVER let the 4.2L get low on oil for too long...you'll pay a big price for doing so. The good things about it? The sound system, smooth ride, steering wheel controls are convenient and help keep your eyes on the road. 4WD handles well in adverse conditions. Low range 4WD mode is exceptional as well."

Pros: "Dependable, good gas mileage"

Cons: "rattling sound from suspension"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I purchased this vehicle in 2007 and have not had any major problems with it. I have been over the road with it from Michigan to Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Texas and Illinois and she has not missed a lick. The Gas mileage is very good and besides from a few rattles I would not trade it for the world. I am thinking of getting a newer vehicle and giving this to my son and that is only because I know it is a dependable vehicle and I can trust it to be as good to him as it was to me."
