Pros: "Quiet ride, grunt to spare"

Cons: "fuel mileage"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought it used in August of 14 with 191000 miles. A woman turned left in front of me June 30 of 15. In between I sank it in a big mudhole in Haspen acres, Indiana, towed a gross truck trailer and accessories weight of 16,000 lbs up sunset point out of Phoenix at 60 mph with little strain and overall had a wonderful time with my truck. It got 12 mpg empty and 9 towing but it was an 8.1 liter so that was to be expected. I liked it so much that I bought a 2003 Silverado with the same setup."

Pros: "Heavy duty, torsion bar works great, massive"

Cons: "Delco battery was poor, dealer couldn't change"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought this truck new, having ordered it through the GM employee purchase. The only problem was the stupid side post battery kept leaking, after three replacements I changed to an Optmia battery and have never looked back. The truck runs great, excellent ground clearance. The tires as delivered were way too small, and the rims were too small for bigger tires. Those have been replaced, new alternator a few years back and have been very happy. Pulled a loaded 26 foot trailer up to The Giant Sequoias, thought is was going to run out of gas, but we made it. Ordered it with the 411 rear-end, lots of power with the 6 liter. I'd buy one again."

Pros: "Holds value- VERY RELIABLE IN ALL Seasons!"

Cons: "We have load rite towing system... Can be bumpy !"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"With the Duramax it is the most powerful truck I ever owned. Will pull a enclosed car trailer FULL of furniture - we moved entire home contents- like nothing. Will pull a dump trailer full of gravel like nothing. Will start right up with fuel not gelling up in -50 degrees North Dakota ! Gets 20 mpg highway not towing ! You can drive in the snow or on the beach- no problem! You will never desire another vehicle ! With the leather interior very comfortable and roomy."

"I got my 2001 Silverado 2500hd 4x4 used with 77,000mi its been 8yrs later and now has 230,000mi all my friends trucks have come and gone and mine still runs strong the 6.0gas with the 4l80e trans is a great combo..gets about 15mpg and I have a heavy foot. What has broke: waterpump @ 180k radiator at the same time. The flexplate broke @ 220k Interior shows heavy wear.. Knock sensors on the 3rd set now. What's good...a/c still blows ice cold never had any problems , heat works great...still has the original alternator ..I've put 2 battery's in it. All in all the best truck I've ever owned..."
