"My truck has been in our family for its entire life. With active duty sending you everywhere across the U.S. it has seen every state at least once except AK and HI. Nothing big has been changed except the tranny at 266k due to pulling a fully loaded trailer at 16k lbs cross country. Everything is still original including the paint. I average about 17.8mpg highway and 15.5 city. Not too bad. 10k miles oil changes in full synthetic and only a quart is burned every 7.5k. Best truck I think I've ever known anyone to own and drive."
"I bought my 2005 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab w/Hard shell tonneau DVD player, Bose stereo and Satellite radio and 6 CD disc changer with 34,300 miles on it in 2009 and I've never had any problems. 19.4 miles per gal. On a road trip to Vegas,Grand Canyon, Salt Lake City,Idaho and back to Oregon. 15 mpg in town. It has leather interior and is almost like an Escalade it has so many options! Love it! I have a 27' Forest River travel Trailer and the 5.3 pulls it easily! Great rig"
"2001 Chevy Silverado ext cab 4x4
I bought the truck last year in August of 2014. The truck only had 140,000 miles, as of today the truck has 170,xxx. The truck did have the usual rust and dents for being 13 years old and it did have its usual problem’s. But I fixed up the truck up and fixed the minor problem’s the truck runs and handles like it should to begin with. I am impressed with it because it only has the 4.8 motor in it and it can do some nice burn outs.
The body style of the truck such as the (ls, lt, crew cab, regular cab and step side)
The way the tuck handles and drives
The towing capability (4,800lbs)
How it has disc brakes instead of the drums
The gas mileage could be better
The gas gauge doesn’t work its typical problem in these chevy’s
The oil consumption
Interior was cheaply made"
"I purchased truck new to use as tow vehicle and everyday general local travel. Very hard on gas, local and on highway. Average 13 mpg on highway, about 11.5 locally. Fuel economy drops to 8 - 9 when towing 7500 lb trailer.
Mechanically very reliable vehicle. No issues with drive-ability at any time. Poor roadholding as backend breaks loose easily in hard turns, must always realize it is not a car. Poor quality paint, chips easily. I have had the grille replaced due to discoloration, replaced with GM product, and it is now bad also. Will look for another product when I have to get new truck."
