I owned and sold this car
Reason: Got tired of the problems - My approximate mileage is 220,000
Pros: "4WD, Extended cab, canopy helped deal with most."
Cons: "Too many problems. Too much money spent."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 3
"I had this truck for 4 years and it had a lot of problems. I had to replace belt pulleys a couple times, idlers, alternators, oil lines, radiators, the reservoir, freeze plugs, heater core, and many other things, but the worst of all is the engine and transmission. Even after mostly all engine components were replaced, there were still problems. I would say to avoid this little truck. Could be a money pit. I did buy for very cheap, but from a reliable source who had treated it like a son. But it was fun to drive when it didn't have problems."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 147,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "Gas mileage, reliability, fun to drive"
Cons: "Small interior, slow acceleration."
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I have a 2001 s10 with the 2.2 liter 4 cylinder. This little truck has been really good to me. Bought it in September 2011 with 114,000 and it now has 147,000. I'm very meticulous on vehicle maintenance so it always gets an oil change at 3,000 miles and sometimes less than 3,000. Fires up every time and runs great. It doesn't burn a single drop of oil and the fuel mileage is great. I've estimated it to be about 23 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, 25 mpg combined. Perfect for a young guy like me. The a/c just died out and it's going to be $800 to replaced but it's a 12 year old truck, things will eventually break. My mechanic told me it's common on these for it to happen but he said it's not a wasted investment replacing it because the truck will easily last another 5+ years. No problems other than the a/c. I'd highly recommend this truck to someone. Only downfall is its small interior and it's slow."
