"I have had nothing but trouble with this truck. Replace front brakes 3 times/ rotors twice. The calipers on the right side twice. Water pump 3 times. Fans clutch twice. clutch cylinder once, Clutch once, Needs Transmission replaced due to the syncro-gear between 1st and 2nd going out. Replace Alternator twice along with battery 3 times. Replaced Windshield Wiper Motor. Interior: Defrost vent cracked/broke. Directional venting mechanism has gone out. A/C units needs recharged annually at least. Exahaust system was factory recalled. Oxygen/Exhaust censors went out. And those are the thinks I can remember off the top of my head. Stopped driving it several years ago except to hauls things around."

I owned and sold this car
Reason: totaled - My approximate mileage is 112,000
Pros: "cheap truck, versatile, seating, 4x4"
Cons: "unreliable, rusts quickly"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 4
"I bought this vehicle at 109k and in the four thousand miles I put on it, I had nothing but problems. It seemed once I fixed one problem, another would appear. First the gas gauge, then the starter, then the timing belt, and so on and so forth. Other than the reliability of it, the truck itself was ok. Sufficient power and hauling capability, though the bed is very short. The interior looked close to new when I got it. It handled nicely in the snow, even with tires that wouldn't have passed another year's inspection. Four wheel drive helped with that some too when it got bad out."

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 165,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "POWER, MPG and most of all RELIABLITY"
Cons: "Cheap interior components"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9
"I bought this truck 2.5 years ago with 145000 miles and it now has 165000 miles and those 20000 miles have been the most reliable miles I have driven. Granted I do keep great care of my truck and I suspect the previous owner did as well. Great power to MPG ratio. I have a 1999 with the ZR2 package. Driving all highway miles on a tank of gas I get 22 MPG (70 MPH). Driving all in town miles on a tank of gas I get 14 MPG. The S-10 with the ZR2 package has GREAT off road capabilities!!! Trust me I have tested it. It's no full size diesel but I have pulled a 4000 pound trailer down the highway and up some pretty steep inclines and this truck didn't even blink. Only complaint is the interior is a little small and some interior compents are cheaply made (center consule door and seat handles) have had to replace the seat adjusters, cost me maybe $40 in parts and took only 5 min to swap out."

"Bought a '96 with 115000 miles on it. Within 10000 miles the clutch and transmission went out for a thousand bucks. That was using a used junk yard transmission. Then the A/C compressor went out and cost me seven hundred. After new front brakes, rotors, and bearings, another seven hundred the motor started rattling. I was through throwing money into it and sold it for a major loss."
