The V6 option grows from 3.0 liters to 3.6 and now makes a robust 301 horsepower. Passenger seats can be had with 8-way power adjustment. Other options include a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system, universal garage door opener, and safety system with collision-warning and lane-departure alerts.

The 2012 Chevy Equinox compact SUV gains blind-spot mirrors on all trims, while Bluetooth is now standard on the LS trim. A rearview camera is added to the 1LT trim and a new 7-inch color touch-screen radio with USB port is made standard on 1LT, 2LT and LTZ. Later in the model year, Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment and safety system becomes available.

All new for 2010, the second-generation Chevy Equinox is more attractive, more refined, more powerful, more fuel efficient and more feature-filled than its predecessor. Overnight the Equinox has gone from outdated to outstanding.

Revisions for 2009 are minor and include standard side-curtain airbags with rollover-detection sensors, standard XM Satellite Radio, three new exterior colors and the addition of Bluetooth connectivity to the OnStar 8.0 system.

Two new trims, the Sport and LTZ, join the Equinox line. The Sport trim features a 264 horsepower V6 engine, six-speed automatic transmission and a sport-tuned suspension, while the LTZ adds a generous helping of chrome trim and interior luxury features.
