2012 Chevrolet Corvette What's new for 2012?
2012 Chevrolet Corvette

While the base Corvette and Corvette Grand Sport trims receive some minor interior upgrades, the big news for the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette is found on the Corvette Z06 and Corvette ZR1 models. The Corvette Z06 is available with an enhanced Z07 Performance Package with race-track-ready Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires and a new Performance Traction Management system, which manages torque delivery to put all that power to the pavement. The Corvette ZR1 receives these same upgrades in the new PDE performance package.

There are a number of changes for the 2011 Corvette, most notably the availability of contrasting headlamp housing, cross-drilled brake rotors, Magnetic Ride Control on Grand Sport (includes Goodyear F1 Supercar Gen II tires when equipped with a manual transmission), and a six-speed paddle shift automatic transmission. The Z06 receives standard F1 tires and a newly tuned exhaust, while a new Z07 and Carbon Fiber Package are added to the option's list.

About Chevrolet Corvette

Once known as America's only two-seat sports car, the Corvette continues to offer driving enthusiasts the most bang for the buck, running neck-and-neck (and in some cases surpassing) exotic cars costing up to four times as much—or even more. No where else but in America can you find a sub-$50,000 sports car delivering 400 horsepower while returning an EPA highway fuel economy figure of 28 miles per gallon. Although not as light or nimble as the Porsche 911, the Corvette's optional Z51 Performance Package renders it track-ready, while the car's luxurious interior and comfortable ride make it perfect for daily commutes or long weekend getaways. Available as a coupe or convertible, the 2007 Corvette remains in a class by itself.

"Just bought a 2011 Grand Sport Conv. Test drove a lot of vehicles that cost way more than this one and they were not half as fun. Nobody can touch this kind of performance for the price. Buy American!!"

Pros: "power, looks, best bang for the buck in performance and overall capability."

My 2010 Z06 sitting in front of 'it's' house

"These Z06 Corvettes are truely world class for what their capable of. They are extremely fast...much faster than the standard model. They handle just as good as they are fast. The seat of your pants pull is remarkable. They are capable of running with some of the fastest cars in the WORLD, including Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin to name a few. Yet Z06 price is nothing near what the 'exotics' sell for. The Z06 Corvette bang for the buck cannot be beat. They (Z06 Corvette) are truely "American Muscle" cars. The Z06 looks as good as it handles. They are wider than the regular Corvette. The tires are wider as well, allowing it to stay planted in shrp cornering. It is capable of pulling 1.3 g's on the track They are also equipped with heads up display with indicates your g-force when cornering so the driver does not exceed the tires limits. The Z06 can be driven on the street or track if desired. They were developed and designed right along side the Corvette GT race car, which is part of the GM Corvette Racing program. Z06 has a 7.0 liter (427 cu in) all aluminum engine. Z06's frame is also aluminum. It has carbon fiber body panels. Z06 has magnesium engine cradles. Z06's transmission is in the rear of the car mated directly to the axle. Z06 is the lighest Corvette built, which coupled with the immense horsepower and torque of the all American 427 engine, it runs circles around sports cars that cost twice as much. It will glue a smile to any guys (or gals) face. I've owned mine going on 2 years now, and I still grin every time I get in the drivers seat. Although it is not my daily driver, I usually find myself looking for excuses to drive it. I love this car and plan to own it for a VERY long time....in fact it will become a heirloom. I plan to hand it down to my family after I gone.....and I hope thats not for a very long time.....the '427' Z06 is truely a remarkable car. packing a BIG punch for what it cost. It's "thrilling" to drive. It looks sweet just sitting in my garage. Oh, and the only 'con' it has is the seat design. While the seats 'look' ok, the Z06 is a world class performance machine. But the pro's are that for what it cost in comparison to other cars which can match it's capability, the money you save can buy a set of the best seats in the world and still have 10's of thousands left over."

"Interior gets a "D" but exterior styling, engine and chassis gets an "A". I have driven this car hard as a daily driver for the last 20k miles and have not had a single issue. It runs a 12.61 @ 114.9 bone stock and gets me to work the next morning. I will buy another C6 if I cant afford the C7 when it comes out. Get one, you wont be sorry!!!!"
