"This is a really great, reliable car. We bought it new for a daughter in college. It was subsequently driven by two children and is now back under my jurisdiction. My plan was to bop around in it for a few more years, but it turns out I like it so much that I can't say goodbye. I have a very short commute to work and since it's small, it heats up fast in the winter. The mileage is good - I have checked it a few times and seems to be 25+mpg give or take. Have done no repairs save for some routine stuff and this type of car is easy and cheap to have work done on it. Passes IL emissions every time. Highway driving is a tad rough as there is a fair amount of road noise. This car is a gem and I hope to have it for many more years. At this point, it's like driving for free!"

"I bought the car from a repo lot Spring of '13. It was an attractive car for the price, but a huge risk since I had no information or details on it. The only problem I had on the car was the reverse light went out and then the relay switch for the blinkers went out. The fan for the heat and A/C rattles a little, but other than that, this car has not disappointed me. It's as basic as they come, everything manual. The car withheld being rearended at about 35/45 mph. (OUCH). It's sporty. It starts to shake around 80mph and isn't happy with steep inclines at high speed. It takes corners awesomely. It's got great pickup for a 4 cyl. Great beginner car. I'm confident has several miles left on it."

First day I brought her home!

"This is my first vehicle and I must say it's been very reliable. I've had the car for about 3 years now and I've had very minimal problems with it. The most I've had to do to my cavalier is back brake pads and wheel bearings(when I first purchased the car), new CD player because the factory one it had was too old for my liking and I wanted a USB port for my iPod, and just last month I had to replace the front brake pads, wheel bearings and rotors. All of that was done over the course of 3 years and that's been the most that was wrong with it. And of course the wear and tear from the previous years. And I do keep up with my oil changes regularly, in fact I'm due for my next one at the end of next month. Overall a very good car to have as your first one!"

"We've had our little Victory Red '05 Cavalier for over 6yrs and just can't complain much about it. Past 2yrs have put most of its miles since we got it with only 48K on it. I had an older Cavalier and one a year older than this one and I have to admit they are tough little cars. Yes they will have things go wrong when their miles get upward of 100K but most have been maintenance, tires, realignments, brakes, wiper blades, oil changes, shocks/struts, serpentine belt, etc. Once they hit about 150K things like radiator fan relay, oil sensor, idler arm, wheel bearings needed fixed but they did a fine job. This car gives a decent ride, not luxury but didn't buy it for that. Gives a sporty/peppy ride, strong brakes, nice pick-up, and very good MPGs. Ours is mixed and usually in the mid-upper 20's MPG. Change its oil, fill with gas, give it an occasional car wash and it will serve you well for many years to come. Just wish they didn't discontinue it just when it was moving into the very reliable class."

Damage

"Car is very reliable. I have kept up maintenance (have recent maintenance paperwork) and has all new tires. This car has driven me to work and back which is 25 miles one way. Cloth seats and floor rugs do not have a single tear. Dashboard is cracked and air conditioning needs service. I loved my car but needs right front body work due to damage. CAR STILL STARTS AND ENGINE SOUNDS SWEET! Radiator needs replacing. Asking $800 but will negotiate."
