I own this car - My approximate mileage is 238,000
overall rating 10 of 10rating detailsPros: "MPG, Durability, Value, Fun to drive"
Cons: "very minor rust"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"We have owned our red 2 door Cavalier since it was brand new. It is a stick shift, and we are on the original nearly everything… Clutch, engine, etc. The biggest thing we have had to replace was the alternator, past that just brakes, rotors, and oil. At 238,000 miles, we are still getting between 33-37mpg and it still drives very smooth. Fun to drive with pretty good power. I would definitely buy another one if they still made them new, but will probably go with the Cruze if they are as well made as this Cavalier. Very minor rust by the back tires but other than that it still looks brand new. Passenger side window still goes down, but it’s the going back up that is the problem. Just stopped using it all together. Other than that all electronics still work well. For a 10 year old car, not bad."

"I have owned 4 Cavaliers since 1992. Every one of them was a good, reliable car. Two of them I traded back in because I got tired of shifting. Chevrolet NEVER should have stopped making them; they're reliable, comfortable, and just good small cars. I now own a 2004 Cavalier with 94,000 miles and while I 've had to fix some things(naturally), it's still running great. I will hate to give it up someday."

"I love this car. Fell in love with it when I first saw it. It is bright yellow and more people have said that it was so cute and good looking. Never given me a bit of trouble. Who says Americans can't build great cars? Always been a Chevy fan!!!"

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 112,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "Efficiency, reliability, roomy front seating"
Cons: "small engine, smallish backseat (it's a coupe)"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"We've owned our 2002 cavalier for seven years (06-13). It's been highly reliable, and has definitely rewarded our good treatment and regular maintenence. Overall, this little car is zippy and efficient (~25 MPG), with better-than-expected handling and plenty of trunkspace and footroom up front. The back set is a bit smallish, and rear-seat access can be tough for larger/less manueverable people, but it's a coupe- what did you expect?"

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 85,000
overall rating 7 of 10rating detailsPros: "Good on gas, Easy to drive, Reliable"
Cons: "Small, Boring after awhile"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8
"I got my '99 Chevy Cavalier as my first car when I turned 16, and I still have it 4 years later. It is a very reliable car, I've had to replace the battery and alternator since I've had it, but they were the original pieces and over 12 years old, so it is understandable. Other than just some simple wear and tear, the car is in great shape and drives well. It is comfortable and very easy to drive, its a great first car, especially for inexperienced drivers. Great on gas as well. If you're looking for a great, reliable little car, I definitely recommend the Chevy Cavalier. I'll definitely miss it when I do eventually get something new!"

I own this car - My approximate mileage is 165,000
overall rating 9 of 10rating detailsPros: "Fun to drive, economical on gas, reliable"
Cons: "recirculate turns on the ac, shallow cup holder"
Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10
"I bought this car brand new. The only problem I had was that the ignition went out after two years. It was a recall, so Chevy paid for everything including the rental car. I get the oil changed every 4k miles and don't let things stay broken. The only broken I have experienced is that it ran out of freon, and the battery died - but those are the normal wear and tear. Other than that it has run great and had no problems. You can fold down the back seat and fit a bookcase in there! I once put the entire contents of my kitchen in there (not the sink) when I was moving! I have lots of stuff, too. Two things I do not like that Chevy did - when you turn on the recirculate it automatically turns on the AC. Nice except when you don't want the AC on - like in the dead of winter! The other is that the cup holder in the front is shallow - don't put a bottle of water in it - you'll lose it on the first turn. Pretty small complaints! Fun car to drive - even long distances (took it coast to coast on a road trip)."
