Pros: "great price, works great"

Cons: "not a lot of room for bigger people"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"It looks sporty, drives very well too. It doesn't cost too much which can be great for people like me, but it doesn't feel cheap. Mine doesn't have any fancy features, I use manual windows and the same with locks..... no fancy stereo or electric seats or anything. BUT thats why i got it, it doesn't have all these features (but those can be purchased later on), but what it does have is reliability. Never had a single issue with it and i have had it for a few years now. Also the MPG isn't too shabby!"

its a strong running vehicle. worth every penny!

Pros: "Cheap, Mechanically Sound"

Cons: "Cheaply Made"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 7

"The car is very cheaply put together, hence its inability to retain any value. Although the interior and body is so cheap, as long as you keep up the preventative maintenance then it will stay mechanically sound. It is comfortable to drive because it is so close to the ground. I would recommend buying this car as since mine only has 87,000 miles on it and will last until at least 200,000 as long as I take care of it properly. It is worth 2,300 now and was bought at 75,000 miles for only 2,500 dollars. That is why the value rating is so high. The car is cheap and will last a long while mechanically."

"The best car I have ever had. It is very reliable and safe. I will not trade her for a BMW. A great car for its value. Go Chevy!"

Pros: "fun to drive, maint, insurance, and mpg cheap"

Cons: "not great for long distances, sits low, long doors"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"In writing this review I want you to understand other people are telling me I need a new car or I would be driving it till it falls apart (which would not be any time soon, I've always kept maintenance up and have taken great care of it), with that being said in all the different cars I've owned this has been the best car ever and it's hard for me to let it go! I bought this car in April 2003, slightly used (25k miles) was used as a car rental before I got it, was a great deal too, I only paid 9k for it as they were selling for 12k at the time. It handles great for round town and short distances but it's not for long drives, I've had it in the mountains and it handled well, light weight car so if the wind gets to bad, you do feel it and have to watch steering. Great gas mileage in my opinion, (especially compared to vehicles today)I calculate it regularly and has never been under 30 miles to the gallon as long as I have been driving it. Then insurance on it's so cheap, ideal for someone who is on an economical budget! It's cute, and a bit sporty! Now my only issues is that I have the 2-door and the door is a bit long, so in tight parking spots have to be careful not to hit other cars when opening the doors and it's not comfortable for long distances unless you plan to stop a lot. The lay down back seats are nice, as well giving you more than plenty room when needing to move large items or packing it with stuff, big deep trunk, surprisingly for such a small car. I have had as many as 5 people ride in it but 3 were kids and they have no room to act up, lol just sit and enjoy the ride! This has been a really good car to me, may decide to, if I have to get a new one, just keep it and get another vehicle won't be the first time I've owned more than 1 car at a time, but the reasons different, this time I won't have to have one for back up in case one doesn't start ;)"

Pros: "Fun to drive, great mileage, low overall cost."

Cons: "GM bodywork...nuff said. :("

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"I've owned this car for 8 years now. Always mechanically reliable, runs great, turns in 28-29mpg all year round, even with fairly spirited driving. With good all-season tires it has never let me down getting around in the occasional 8-12" snows we have here. AC still blows cold, engine and transmission are strong, still has the original clutch. All I've had to replace are regular wear items: brakes ($200 DIY), one bad battery ($75), tires ($600 Eagle GTII), and oil changes. Had a minor coolant leak last year that was fixed with a $25 part, and a small vacuum leak that I fixed with $1 rubber hose. I do most of my own repairs; it's easy to work on. It's tackled vacations to other states including dirt mountain back roads in Colorado, where people with "real" sports cars never dare go. It has a uniquely shaped large trunk that I can get my sound equipment into that won't fit into most larger cars. I can carry several 8' 2x4s or 10' PVC pipe sections with the back seat down. What it lacks in raw horsepower (155), it makes up for in cornering capability...45mph third-gear hairpin curves will leave most BMWs and Mustangs behind (they're much heavier). The Getrag 5-speed shifts smoothly for a FWD car...I've missed only 2 or 3 shifts in my eight years with it. The bad: it's black. GM had trouble with black paint around this time, and the clearcoat is peeling. It also has a rusty spot on the right rear quarter panel. The original stereo speakers are finally giving out. There's a broken plastic rail on the sunroof that sometimes requires attention to close properly. Overall: I paid $5000 for it eight years ago (Cavaliers don't have much "cachet") with 78k miles on it. Total cost of ownership (not including fuel and insurance) is well below $75/month, which is pretty incredible for a dependable daily driver that's fun to drive and can also workhorse when needed. I wish GM/Chevrolet would get their car body quality together...if this didn't have the rust and paint issues, I'd keep it another eight years."
