"I've owned a 2000 Camaro SS since 2003 when I bought it at 40k miles. It has needed very little repair work, especially considering that I drive it like a race car.
It only got 4 stars on reliability because of premature drivetrain failures, due to the powerful engine being used vigorously. The engine has been incredibly reliable itself.
I would recommend this car to anyone that wants a high performance vehicle that is fun to drive, is still capable of over 30 mpg hywy (6 spd manual), and is nearly as reliable as a Honda. This car averages about 13.5 1/4 mile times w/6spd, and 13.9 w/auto.
I could not have bought a better car for the price, period."
"The F-Body Camero's are a great performance car for the price. I've had three of them (93, 94 Z28 and currently a 2000 Z28). They have their little quirks, like weak power window motors and some sqeeks and groans here and there, but nothing that can't be taken care of with some after-market replacements. A seriously fun car to drive. Absolutely stunning power and torque. The body styling is very sleek and can draw a crowd when tricked out. Not a family car in any way, in fact they're really a one person car. The LS1 engine used in the later year Camero's is rated as one of the top performance engine ever made. Very reliable. In all a really good looking and fun car to drive."
"I have a 2002 camaro RS 5 spd. Dark blue with silver racing stripes. The RS is V6 with an extra 5 horsepower because it came with the Z28 exhaust. It has a tigher steering ratio, track ctrl and a limited slip differentail, all come with the RS package. Gets mid 20s mpg city and high 20s mpg on the highway. The car is fast enough for me, about 7 seonds 0-60. As long as you lubricate the wetherstrip on the t-tops once a month, they will not leak at all. Besides the window motors, the car has never had any problems. I have a little over 48k miles on the clock."
