"Our 2001 Chevy Blazer was a great purchase and we have relied on it for many years to get us to work and back, especially when the weather is snow and ice. We have enjoyed many outings as a family using this vehicle and it has never let us down or left us stranded."

Pros: "Good value."

Cons: "Lots of maintenance spending."

"We bought our 2000 Blazer in 2014 when it had 87,000 for $2,100. I think I got a great deal. We have 98000 now and KBB value is about $2,000. The Blazer is good in the snow. It has never left us stranded. It's handy for moving and toting stuff around town. Fairly comfortable. We use it as a second vehicle and a loaner for family members who need it. Mechanical reliability is poor. Replaced ball joints, front axles, battery, egr, o2 sensor, idle control motor, front brakes, front calipers, vacuum hoses, rear end seal, intake manifold gasket. For a truck with almost 100,000 miles these could be viewed as maintenance items but that's a bunch of maintenance! I expect to replace water pump and alternator next. Brother-in-law is a shade tree mechanic so I'm keeping him in beer money. Overall, not a bad deal. Not perfect, but not bad either."

Pros: "Very Reliable, the 4.3L V6 is 3/4 of a small block"

Cons: "17 mpg city, 19 mpg highway"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Purchased used (4 yrs, 48k miles) from a national retailer of used cars. Is now 13 yrs & 125k miles. Has been very reliable. I am capable of doing many repairs myself. I have replaced two alterators & due to the placement of the alternators it is a simple job. I recently had to replace the radiator. But again, it wasn't terribly difficult. The only consistent problems are 1) the brake warning light will come on for a few days once a year or so, 2) A/C requires a can of refrigerant every year [until this year for some reason] for the last 2 or 3 years, 3) if it sits for approximately 3 days coolant will leak from the driver's side engine block to water pump connection. Oddly it has to sit for a few days, if it is driven every day this does not occur. The leak is not serious, less than an ounce in 24 hours. I just have to keep an eye on the overflow receptacle. If it were more serious I would fix it. In retrospect I should have removed and remounted the water pump when I replaced the radiator...but I didn't!"
