Cons: "GM stopped making them"

"Chevy discontinues this model and starts to go out of business. Coincidence? The SUV that drives like a car. Never in my life have I found a better vehicle. I have had (5) 2-door blazers and resold them all before finally landing on a reasonably priced Xtreme. Easier to customize than a honda civic, hard to find junk yard parts because they are all still on the road, good gas mileage, very powerful 4.3 V6 motors that run forever, and I lived in it for a few months so it can definitely be used as a reliable camping vehicle. If you take care of your car, it will take care of you, simple concept. I would recommend to Chevy that they should quit trying to come up with new successful ideas when they had such a diamond in the rough all along. This vehicle needs to come back to the production line. 11 out of 10. Everyone should have one... or five."

Pros: "20/25 gas mileage at 14 yrs old and smooth ride."

Cons: "Spare tire cramps back payload of interior."

"Bought this puppy new in 2000. Drives like a charm. Only problem I have had is the intake manifold gasket melted down letting coolant into the block. Mine didn't happen until three years after a class action lawsuit against GM was ended and I didn't hear about the class action in time to get mine in for service under the settlement. This was an inherent problem in all GM's like the Blazer and Jimmy due to bad gasket design when combined with the special Dextrol coolant GM uses on these. Only other bad design is the heater coil is designed to lay down flat in the dash which lets it clog really easy. Heat will occasionally dwindle to nothing and I have a 1/2" and 3/4" garden hose modified to attach to the two pipes on the firewall and flush the heater coil. Just turn on the hose bib on your house and run clean water thru it and voila!....hot air again. Overall a great running little vehicle with good gas mileage (mine has been 20/25) that is easy enough to work on minor parts replacement. These 2 doors Blazers are increasing in value now instead of decreasing. Not the Jimmies though...just the 2 door LS Blazer with the V6 Vortec. Not alot of them made and most folks stupidly traded them during the cash for clunkers so they were carted off and destroyed leaving very very few one owner bought new like mine. I have had for 14 and a half years now and only have 105,000 miles on it and will drive it till the cows come home. LOL Smooth ride too with the premium wheels and 15" tires mine came with. I keep Cooper Cobra raised white letters on it. Has tinted back windows as standard and all the little extras. Kelly says it is around 3600 right now and just a year ago or so it was valued at 2800. If I can make 20 years in this thing my state puts a classic tag on it and the value should increase even more. I now consider it an investment...not just a ride."

Pros: "good gas, good power, very reliable, goes anywhere"

Cons: "middle back seat small,"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"No issues! Seats fold down, lots of room. Can camp in it. Can pack lots of food and other supplies. Good power for v6 engine. Good handling and easy to drive. Lasts forever. Windows in back make shoulder checking very useful. Safe and fun to drive and can and will go offroading. Easy maintenance and easy to fix any small mechanical problems"

Pros: "Ordinary maintenance and it will run forever."

Cons: "CD player, wiring in steering column."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Owned this car since the end of the 2004 model year. I see many of the same model driving around every day. It has survived congested city and freeway driving of 50+ miles every work day in 100-120 degree heat 4 months out of each year for 10 years. My son now uses it a lot for his home repair business; he also is mechanically inclined and carefully maintains it. Yes, the CD player quit working some time ago, the water pump was replaced once, as was the ignition switch. One of the ignition wires to a little too short for a tilt steering wheel causing the battery to continue working when we thought the engine was fully turned off. Otherwise, I would give this car a 10. It will be driven until it literally falls apart."

Pros: "Never missed a day of work in the blizzards of NY."

Cons: "Teenagers HATE crawling in the back of a 2 door."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8

"Bought this 03 in 09 used and without a clue what it could do. It had 138000 miles on it when I bought it and it never needed anything engine wise. Did have to get emergency radiator flush in Jan. and if u know how cold Jan in New York is.....it was an emergency. I just started replacing original parts last year. Considering they are 10 plus years old....that's not bad. I'm going to miss her when I sell her, but I am moving on. I am sad they don't make the Blazer anymore, but now I know why.....they are sturdy, dependable, and Chevy Tough."

Pros: "Great car, if you can find one in good shape."

Cons: "They don't make them anymore."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"We bought our '96 Blazer in early '98. It has been, by far, the BEST car we've ever had! This car has been extremely reliable. Of course a lot has to do with the fact that we're the 2nd owners of it and have had it in our care for 16 years. Our oldest had 2 accidents in it after he got his license. Each time we bought a blazer of the same year whose engine or transmission was bad, then frankenstein-ed it back together. It is one of the best cars Chevrolet has ever made, and shame them for not making it anymore."
