"I got this 2004 Aveo hatchback car new with only the basics. Intermittent wipers, basic radio, manual transmission. I have had a few minor check engine lite issues and I lost a water pump which caused me to have to do a top end but other than that this car get 34 mpg on the highway, has great power, sufficient room. Does not burn oil. At 305,000 I am still on the original clutch. My goal is to reach 500,000 miles with this car."
"I bought this car with 60k on it and now have 103k. I have not had any major problems and routine care seems to have done the trick. There is no doubt that the interior is cheap and road noise is involved in the driving experience. However when you are paying this amount of money you had to know this is coming. My only complaint is that mine is an automatic but even so the round town MPG is only 22. Highway is another story. Took mine on a short trip and got 32 MPG which is great. If you are looking for basic transportation from A-B and need a little storage and room the Aveo is not a bad choice."
"I've found this car to be comfortable, and surprisingly roomy for how small it is. Additionally, it has great visibility and decent power, along with great gas mileage. Despite all those positives, the car is of very poor quality. It was not made well. Parts are constantly failing and breaking. My wipers, door handle, and gas cover have all broken off during normal use. I easily spend as much keeping this car driveable as I do on car payments. I would not recommend."
Pros: "Good price, attractive styling, good on fuel"
Cons: "Very unreliable and expensive to repair."

"I bought this car new because I liked the styling, it was a simple car I could get with a manual transmission, and the price very reasonable.
Car was babied and maintenance was always done on time.
This car was in and out of the shop at least a dozen times. Total value of all repairs if most weren't covered by warranty would have easily exceeded what I paid for it. The final year of ownership, after warranty was up, cost more then the full 9 years of ownership of the car it replaced, which was a 30 year old Pontiac.
Experience has steered this reviewer away from purchasing another GM vehicle. I do not recommend ownership of this vehicle."
"I bought my Aveo new 7 years ago, and I am very happy with it. I have put virtually no money into it, have taken it on several long trips with no problems whatsoever. I have a 5-door hatchback, and I plan to keep it until it won't go another foot. It's comfortable and reliable. I don't understand some of these bad reviews! I have not experienced anything bad with this car. The only thing I will note is that I can't take it through a commercial car wash. If it gets water in the motor, it doesn't run well until it dries out, so I don't do that anymore. It took me 3 or 4 times through a car wash to figure out what was going on! After a day or so it was fine, but to be safe, I hand wash it myself now and no more problems."
