"Had it since new, driven in the middle of blizzards, spinned on black ice without major damage, driven on hot weather, stormy weather, off road driven, cross country, very few problems, no rust problems, replace fuel pump once, but nothing more than regular maintenance, oil changes, trans. services, tires, alignments, etc. The only problem in its design is tha rear panels and rear window leaks.
Performs great still, very happy with it."
Pros: "It is and can do everything and is well built."
Cons: "It is Big & Long, same length as a Suburban"

"I knew I wanted one of these after owning every other kind of vehicle you can imagine, except a mini-van.
The performance, reliability and utility of this vehicle lives up to it's legend.
I love GM and Chevy, even though they let me down a little during the life of this vehicle. I wish I have bought one the last year they were made and prepared to keep that one forever, so instead, I will slowly reinvent this one and keep it for a very long time.
I changed the brakes for the very first time at 140K (front) and 180K (rear). I replaced the rotors and used low cost ceramic pads to get the same life out of them as I did the OE original brakes. I changed the spark plugs at 130K with OE slightly better replacements.
I have changed the water pump once, the alternator once and had the instrument cluster repaired with a lifetime warranty. The transfer case and the actuator (transfer case motor) have been the only sore spot, which I have not repaired the 2nd time they failed.
The engine is unbelievably reliable and smooth even at a quarter of a million miles.
I have owned high end Mercedes, Porsche, Corvette, Cadillacs and other vehicles, usually changing vehicles every 3 to 4 years. I maintained all of them well.
LOVE this Truck, it is a great well built vehicle worth keeping and investing in."
"The have owned on since 2004 and I put 255k miles (and still counting) on an Avalanche with only minor typical repairs of worn parts like brakes, tires, battery etc. I love it the interior has plenty of room and the pickup you can put lots of vacation luggage in it or haul loads in it. It is the perfect combo with the flip down mid-gate to make getting plywood or long items home. The LM7 5.3l V-8 engine is very reliable if kept maintained properly. The truck rides so smooth it is impressive. The only complaint is the 3 piece bed covers leak in heavy rains and the HVAC actuator motor that controls heater/ac airflow has been replaced twice in this Avalanche. They seem to be made cheap in my opinion. Other than that it's a perfect combination of room and hauling. I pulled a boat with this with no problems. Chevrolet should rethink producing this type of vehicle again. It is in it's own class."
