Pros: "It is and can do everything and is well built."

Cons: "It is Big & Long, same length as a Suburban"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I knew I wanted one of these after owning every other kind of vehicle you can imagine, except a mini-van. The performance, reliability and utility of this vehicle lives up to it's legend. I love GM and Chevy, even though they let me down a little during the life of this vehicle. I wish I have bought one the last year they were made and prepared to keep that one forever, so instead, I will slowly reinvent this one and keep it for a very long time. I changed the brakes for the very first time at 140K (front) and 180K (rear). I replaced the rotors and used low cost ceramic pads to get the same life out of them as I did the OE original brakes. I changed the spark plugs at 130K with OE slightly better replacements. I have changed the water pump once, the alternator once and had the instrument cluster repaired with a lifetime warranty. The transfer case and the actuator (transfer case motor) have been the only sore spot, which I have not repaired the 2nd time they failed. The engine is unbelievably reliable and smooth even at a quarter of a million miles. I have owned high end Mercedes, Porsche, Corvette, Cadillacs and other vehicles, usually changing vehicles every 3 to 4 years. I maintained all of them well. LOVE this Truck, it is a great well built vehicle worth keeping and investing in."

Pros: "Roomy, The pickup is great for loads"

Cons: "The bed covers started to leak water"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"The have owned on since 2004 and I put 255k miles (and still counting) on an Avalanche with only minor typical repairs of worn parts like brakes, tires, battery etc. I love it the interior has plenty of room and the pickup you can put lots of vacation luggage in it or haul loads in it. It is the perfect combo with the flip down mid-gate to make getting plywood or long items home. The LM7 5.3l V-8 engine is very reliable if kept maintained properly. The truck rides so smooth it is impressive. The only complaint is the 3 piece bed covers leak in heavy rains and the HVAC actuator motor that controls heater/ac airflow has been replaced twice in this Avalanche. They seem to be made cheap in my opinion. Other than that it's a perfect combination of room and hauling. I pulled a boat with this with no problems. Chevrolet should rethink producing this type of vehicle again. It is in it's own class."

Pros: "Awesome to drive, versatility for hauling stuff."

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 8

"Best Vehicle I have Ever Owned. Reliability- Mom, Apple Pie, and Chevrolet Avalanche. Quality- Almost maintenance Free except for normal oil changes Driving Comfort- Totally Awesome. Design- Amazing... people always think it is newer than a 2003. Comfort- Better than my Lazy Boy Recliner at home. Take one for a TEST DRIVE. Then add the mid gate and versatility for hauling stuff, wow."

Pros: "Feel safe in it"

"Nothing about it I don't like. GM didn't notify us of speedometer screw-up so I had to repair it myself. Other than GM not doing what they should on recall, the vehicle is great, Avg gas mileage is 16 mpg but it is a heavy truck."

Pros: "Versatile"

Cons: "Gas Mileage"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Still hard to believe that they quit making this vehicle last year. One of the best driving, and most versatile trucks ever made. Drives like a "Cadillac", but can haul my 6k pound boat with ease. What a fantastic overall vehicle. The ONLY bad thing I can say about it is the gas mileage - but then again, it will haul 2k pounds and pull 6K with ease - it's just not a economy car."

Pros: "very comfortable ride, good gas mileage for a V8,"

Cons: "the brake calipers seem to sieze up unexpectedly"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 9

"I bought this Avalanche with 74,000 miles in 2010. In the 4+ years (90,000+ miles) that I have owned it I replaced the water and fuel pumps and also the brakes all around. That is it! Minimal rust on hood. Rides like a car, yet I have taken it in rugged wilderness areas in Michigan without a problem."
