With styling that's sporty but less substantial than its competitors', and no available V8, the RL has been somewhat of an also-ran in its category. There's still no V8, but for 2009 the RL gets bolder new sheetmetal, more power and even more cool technology. In addition to weather information and traffic rerouting, the RL will offer Bluetooth audio functionality for wireless access to digital music on cell phones and music players. The slightly bigger 3.7-liter V6 delivers 300 horsepower (up from 290) and 271 pound-feet of torque (versus 256). Pricing hasn't been announced, but the revamped RL goes on sale Spring 2008.
