Infiniti Goes Topless: 2009 Infiniti G37 Convertible Video

Transforming a coupe into a convertible should be easy. Just hack the roof off, tack on a retractable top for when it rains, then head out in search of sunshine, right? However according to Shiro Nakamura, Infiniti's Senior Vice President of Global Design, it takes more than a hack saw and a love of sunshine to make a proper convertible. When designing Infiniti's first convertible in more than a decade, Mr. Nakamura's team labored over every body line to ensure that the G37 convertible looked right -- top up or down. Helping achieve the desired result is a complex three-panel retractable hard top that offers the look, security and sound insulation of a coupe when raised, but quickly disappears into the trunk for top-down motoring. In the following video Kelley Blue Book talks to Shiro Nakamura about the challenges associated with designing the Infiniti G37 Convertible.
