Although best known for its work in reproductions of vintage Lotus
7s, Japanese kit car maker Suzusho unveiled its take on Euro-bred exotics with this cool two-seater dubbed the Supasse V. Roughly the size of a current Lotus Exige S and weighing in at an even more svelte 1,875 pounds, the Supasse V boasts aggressively styled bodywork created by veteran F1 designer Kenji Mimura that integrates elements from both the Ferrari
Enzo -- including its up-and-out door treatment -- and the Pagani Zonda. Beneath the eye candy lies an aluminum monocoque tub and steel-tube subframes that mount Suzusho-designed double-wishbone front- and rear-suspension components. Motivation is provided by a turbocharged Mazda
2.3-liter four from the MAZDASPEED3 that cranks out a stout 270 horsepower. Driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, it promises to propel this diminutive GT from 0-60 mph in under 4.5 seconds. Suzusho plans to start offering the Supasse V in Japan starting sometime in mid-2010 at a price in the $50,000-$80,000 range.
