Volvo recently announced that it will join the heretofore slow-growing list of automakers to offer HD Radio. Currently available in many 2008 model year BMW and Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles, Volvo will offer HD Radio in 2009 models including the S40 T5, V50 T5, C30, C70, S80, V70, XC70 and XC90. HD Radio offers clearer sound and more channels than traditional AM/FM radio, plus the ability to transmit text data such as song info and traffic updates. Many stations also broadcast a second 'HD2' channel with unique programming. To see if your favorite station is among the 1,500 broadcasting in HD Radio, visit hdradio.com.
