Celebrating a decade of market success, the 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition makes its debut in Los Angeles prior to arriving in showrooms across the country next spring. In addition to a distinctive appearance, this limited-production model also boasts an impressive roster of unique off-road-focused features that ensure it can go where even its previous "Rubicon" kin may have feared to tread.
Available in 2-door Wrangler or 4-door Wrangler Unlimited, all version of the Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition come with a Premium Sunrider soft top but offer a black 3-piece Freedom hardtop or conventional body-color hardtop - which in this case, can be Billet Silver, White or a 10th Anniversary Edition-exclusive, Anvil. Its standard 285-horsepower/3.6-liter Pentastar V6 can be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or optional 5-speed automatic. To bolster its go-anywhere potential, the part-time 4-wheel drive package on the Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition features electronic-locking Dana 44 front/rear axles with Tru-Lok locking differentials as well as a Rock-Trac transfer case with a 4:1 "4-Low" ratio and 4.10 axle ratios. Opting for the manual transmission also brings an impressive 73.1:1 crawl ratio. Beyond a half-inch taller ride height, this Jeep of distinction stays planted on any surface with BF Goodrich KM2 265/70R17 tires on 17-inch Rubicon aluminum wheels that rendered in satin black with polished faces.
Unique exterior cosmetic touches include black bumpers - the former a winch-capable design with removable end caps that help reduce body width, a dual-intake Power Dome hood, red tow hooks and Mopar rock rails, a black fuel filler door and tail lamp guards along with a "10th Anniversary" badge and "Rubicon" decal on the sides of the hood. Inside, the "Rubicon 10th Anniversary" theme is equally in evidence, set off by Quick Silver accent trim and available red leather seats. As a finishing touch, each vehicle comes with a plaque mounted in the dash tray that outlines its unique mechanical specs and point of origin along with technical data, such as axle type and ratio, tire size, transfer case crawl ratio and manufacturer location -- which will be Toledo, Ohio.
