Showing only a highly stylized headlamp and proffering that it will be found on an innovative electric concept vehicle that will appear along with its new LEAF at the Paris Auto Show, Nissan provided the first mini-glimpse of a next-gen urborunner it's calling the Townpod. Claiming the Townpod is "more than just a car and more than just a van---it heralds a new-era of flexible, stylish vehicles that will bring electric-vehicle mobility to the masses," Nissan says the Townpod matches a contemporary exterior treatment with a spacious and practical passenger compartment.

Although it has yet to reveal the exact scale of the Townpod, the accompanying release did confirm that this one-off was created to "offer insight into how Nissan could expand its portfolio of zero-emission vehicles." That would indicate a high likelihood the Nissan Townpod will be an variation on the automaker's global B-platform architecture that also underpins the LEAF -- albeit one specifically designed "to offer zero-emissions mobility to a future generation of home-based, innovative entrepreneurs who are creative and tech-savvy."
