To recognize the 20th Anniversary of its iconic sportscar, Mazda put together a special one-off performance variant for the SEMA Show that mixes intriguing styling touches with a super shot of added muscle. The exterior of Mazda MX-5 Super20 Mazda swaps it soft top for a hard hat and matches subtle Storm Gray paint with matte-black lower body elements, including even more pronounced fender flares which are fully filled with 245/45 Toyo Proxes RA-1 R-compound race rubber on black finish Enkei RPF1 alloy wheels. Inside, the Mazda MX-5 Super20's Spartan cabin has a ready-to-rumble character highlighted by a bolt-in roll bar and deeply contoured sport buckets with grippy suede inserts set off by orange contrast stitching that complements the car's like-colored speed-slash exterior accents.
Power for the Mazda MX-5 Super20 comes from a supercharged Cosworth engine that's features a custom DPTune electronic control unit and Racing Beat steel headers and exhaust system. It sends motive force to the six-speed manual gearbox via a heavy-duty ACT organic street clutch. In addition to its full MAZDASPEED coil-over suspension system and front strut tower brace, the MX-5 Super20's handling prowess is enhanced by Racing Beat hollow front/rear anti-roll bars. Stopping power also gets a major bump thanks to Power Slot slotted brake rotors, StopTech stainless steel brake lines and street performance brake pads and SpeedSource front brake ducts.
