Lexus has finally confirmed what's been rumored for the past couple of months: Fifty of the 500 LFA supercar's it plans to build will be offered with a special Nürburgring Package that adds exclusive styling elements and enhanced performance as well as a generous handful of personal perks at the famed German circuit. "This Nürburgring Package builds on the track-ready Lexus supercar with styling cues from the 24 Hours of Nürburgring prototype LFA racecar," said Mark Templin, Lexus Division group vice president and general manager.
On a cosmetic level, the Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package will be available in one of four exterior colors: whitest white, orange, black and matte black. All can be matched with black, red or violet interior trims that include a unique carbon fiber center console and door trim bits.
Functionally, the Nürburgring Package will add 10 more horsepower to the Lexus LFA's mid-ship mounted 4.8-liter V10 -- bringing its total to 562 -- and reduce shift-interval timing by 0.05 seconds, allowing gear changes of the car's six-speed automated sequential transmission to be accomplished in a mere 0.15 ticks. The Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package also nets a larger front spoiler and a fixed rear wing that add more downforce plus an even more aggressively tuned suspension and custom black mesh-type wheels wrapped in bespoke high-grip tires to help it put the rest of these performance-enhancing elements to best use.
Price of entry for a Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package is $70,000 -- or $90,000 if you want one in matte black. Those figures, of course, are in addition to the $375,000 sticker for an LFA itself. However, the well-heeled 50 who do step up to a Nürburgring Package will also receive a host of other related benefits. These include private parking at the circuit, a co-pilot ride, one night at the Lindner Congress and Motorsport Hotel Nürburgring, private training with the Nürburgring's chief driving instructor, a Nürburgring branded jacket, and a one-year annual pass valid for driving on the legendary "Nordschleife" circuit as well as admission to the ring°werk leisure park.
