While there will be only one official race-pacing Camaro at this year's 94th running of the Brickyard bash, Chevrolet today confirmed that it will build up to 200 additional 2010 Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Replica Limited Edition models which will be sold through 187 of the top-selling Camaro dealers nationwide. This marks the fourth time Chevrolet has produced a limited-edition replica of one of its Camaro Indy 500 pace cars, a set that also includes 1969, 1982 and 1993 vintage vehicles.
Like the bespoke pace car which will be driven on May 30th by Good Morning America host Robin Roberts, each of these replica versions will be based on an Inferno Orange 2010 Chevy Camaro 2SS model with an RS Appearance Package. In addition to its 400-horsepower/6.2-liter V8 and a six-speed automatic transmission, the cars will come with 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, full-body White Pearl decal rally stripes, an Inferno Orange heritage front grille and engine cover, premium floor mats with accent colors and "2010 Indianapolis 500" event logo decals on the doors and embroidered into the driver and passenger headrests.
"We set out to build a collectible vehicle that will appeal to the die-hard Camaro and Indianapolis 500 fan," said Jim Campbell, U.S. ice president, Chevrolet Marketing. "We believe we've done just that with the 2010 Chevy Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Limited Edition." Each will carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $41,950.
