The last Ford Taurus X crossovers and the Mercury Sable sedans will roll down the production line next spring. Sales for both had been disappointing and Ford has an overabundance of both models. The Taurus X was originally called the Freestyle when it was introduced in 2004, while the Sable was named the Montego. In 2006, the Taurus and Sable names were dropped from the company's lineup, but in 2007, new Ford Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally ordered the resurrection of the once-popular models names. Despite the untimely demise of these two models, the Taurus sedan will continue to be produced.
