According to an email sent from Volkswagen
to its dealers and posted at the enthusiast Web site tdiclub.com, customers anxiously awaiting the scheduled Spring 2008 return of the diesel-powered Jetta TDI are going to have to wait even longer. The delay is attributed in the email to "a technical issue that was found during the later stages of durability testing." According to a report in Automotive News that sources a VW spokesman, the problem has been fixed but now the vehicle must go through emissions testing and validation again. We remain optimistic that VW's new 50-state "clean diesels" will be worth the wait.
