While most people rightly affiliate the iconic British marque with turning out premium luxury vehicles, Bentley also has an equally long and storied history in motorsports. That saga includes no fewer than six overall victories in the fabled 24 Hours of Le Mans. In June, that event celebrates its 90th anniversary. Bentley also is marking its participation in that inaugural race -- where it finished fourth overall -- as well as the 10th anniversary of its most recent conquest in the world's most famous day-long enduro by introducing Le Mans Limited Edition models of the Continental GT Coupe and GTC Convertible as well as its flagship Mulsanne sedan.
Bentley will produce six unique limited edition versions of these vehicles exclusively for the North American market. Each will be restricted to 48 units that feature bespoke exterior/interior color and trim combinations linked to each of the automaker's Le Mans wins. Although no changes are being made to their respective V8 and V12 powertrains, the cars will be fitted with special Le Mans Edition 21-inch black/bright finish alloy wheels. They'll also carry Le Mans Edition indicia on the front fenders, seat headrests, clock face and doorsill tread plates, as well as on a numbered badge on the center console.
"We're very proud of our motorsports heritage and we're excited to celebrate our historic wins at Le Mans 24 Hours," said Christophe Georges, President and COO, Bentley Motors, Inc. "The Le Mans Limited Edition models showcase our performance and handcrafted luxury through these unique, heritage-inspired specifications." Continental GT models will be available in the second quarter of 2013 with Mulsanne Le Mans Edition models available beginning in the third quarter. Interested parties should contact their local Bentley dealer for pricing and ordering information.
