The rich and famous who gathered at Italy's Lake Como over the weekend for this year's Concorso d'Eleganza at Villa d'Este, saw the first completed version of Aston Martin's nascent supercar, the One-77. Eponymously named to reflect its super-limited 77 vehicle total build schedule, the car also drove off with the prestigious event's Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes. Aston Martin's latest foray into true supercardom was first seen in Geneva this year, but only in rolling chassis form. Under the One-77's rakish hood lies a 7.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 that produces over 700 horsepower and will take this handcrafted luxury coupe from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of over 200 mph. Exclusivity does indeed have its price, which in this case is expected to open between $1.5-$1.75 million dollars, depending on the prevailing exchange rate. No word yet as to whether that will include any gas-guzzler taxes.
Chief Executive, Dr Ulrich Bez, sees the One-77 it as a fitting crown to the firm's stellar lineup: "The One-77 demonstrates the unique capabilities of our company -- with its finely sculpted forms and sleek lines, it is an expression of unparalleled beauty that embodies everything Aston Martin stands for."
