The restyled and upgraded 2015 Volkswagen Jetta lineup goes on sale later this quarter with the most affordable version a new "factory order only" 2.0 base model that opens at $17,035. While $680 less than the cheapest 2014 Jetta, this sure-to-be-rare variant can only be had with a 5-speed manual transmission and lacks a number of comfort/convenience touches like air conditioning, cruise control and power windows/lock/mirrors found on the value-oriented Jetta 2.0 S that now starts at $18,145. The next step up is the 2.0 S with Technology that stickers at $19,140.

Moving up in the hierarchy, the Jetta 1.8T SE swaps the carryover 115-horsepower naturally aspirated 2.0-liter gasoline engine for a 1.8-liter 170-horse turbocharged alternative and opens at $19,815. The 1.8T SE with Connectivity and SE with Connectivity and Navigation - both of which come with a 6-speed automatic that runs $1,100 in all other Jetta 1.8T iterations - begin at $23,145 and  $24,470, respectively. Priced at $26,200, the Jetta 1.8T SEL adds tasteful touches like the Fender Premium Audio System and dual-zone climate control. For budget-bound enthusiasts, a new limited-edition Jetta 1.8T Sport trim has a lower, tauter suspension, navigation system, rearview camera, rear spoiler and smoked taillight lenses and stickers for $21,715. Rounding out the gasoline-fired side of the 2015 Jetta set are the hotter Jetta 2.0 GLI SE and GLI SEL, which open at $27,740 and $30,100, respectively. Each shares VW's potent 207-horsepower/2.0-liter turbocharged TSI engine and 6-speed manual transmission that can be upgraded to a 6-speed DSG automatic for an additional $1,160.
